12h

A poll found nearly three in four Americans said ICE should be overhauled or abolished after the Minnesota killings of Good and Pretti, and President Trump’s approval fell.

2/ While we must center ICE’s crimes against non-citizen immigrants, a message that needs underlining nationally is 59% of Minnesota *citizens* fear ICE, which has no jurisdction over them. Obviously true after Good/Pretti murders, but reflects daily assaults/threats. Even 53% of Greater Mn agrees!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.

We must not fund ICE. The Constitution gave Congress the power of the purse. Congress must use that power aggressively and fearlessly if our country is to survive.

As @angus.bsky.social points out, ICE has arrested one in one-thousand US residents. This is also almost exactly the number of US deaths from COVID in 2020.

Okay. If we can't abolish ICE, maybe we can deport it?
This is the second time an ICE employee has been arrested in in a Bloomington, MN underage sex trafficking sting www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...
Police in Bloomington, MN just announced that one of the guys they arrested in an underage sex trafficking sting was a **background checker for ICE agents.**

He had a high security clearance in the Trump administration... and he was caught trying to abuse children. Sickening.

The NYT says Democratic proposals for reforming ICE are “facing blowback.”

But blowback from who? Not the people! Polls show support for most reforms exceeds 60%, with some ideas reaching as high as 94% of the public!

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

They've brought ICE to Australia. It's alarming and outrageous.

Our local jails are pre-trial facilities. That means that the people being held there have not yet been convicted of a crime.

When ICE takes people away before they have been convicted of a crime, they are preventing victims and witnesses from their opportunity to seek justice.

If ICE agents were truly going after the "worst of the worst" criminals, they would have no problem getting a judge to sign a warrant.

And only judicial warrants (not administrative ones) give them authority to enter private property.
