I may be dumped tonight.

Thanks, Harbor Freight.

They want to shut down air freight in the lead up to Christmas.
Buddy if this goes into 2026 there isn’t gonna be a federal government left to reopen.
GOP SEN. JOHN KENNEDY: It may be 2026 when we'll come out of the shutdown.

REPORTERS: 😳

KENNEDY: I'm not kidding, you guys. I mean, you see what I see. Okay? This shutdown is going to last a long time. What's going to get us out of it?

Nearly half of US air freight is shipped via passenger planes, so the Republican government shutdown will further raise the costs of goods.
US airlines cancel 1,000 flights while complying with shutdown order
Anxious travelers across the U.S. are feeling a bit of relief as airlines have mostly stayed on schedule while gradually cutting flights because of the government shutdown.

All the people in the replies bashing Harbor Freight simply don't understand Harbor Freight's place in the DIYer moral universe. How it works: you earn your right to purchase a DeWalt or Milwaukee only after wearing out or revealing the deficiencies of a Harbor Freight tool

The collapse of civilian air travel means the collapse of civilian air freight and the collapse of medical supply chains which involve flying medicine to where it needs to go, along with a bunch of other things that are less immediately relevant to people's lives.
But Senators might have had *their* flights canceled, Paul! You know, people who actually *matter*. People who make *donations* to *campaigns*.

Not SNAP recipients.

Not really. They didn't help, but it was freight rail ignoring federal regulations on who gets priority on rails (i.e., not them), freight trains becoming longer and longer each year, and Congress not cracking down on freight companies that are the major issues holding back passenger rail.

do not talk out your ass about harbor freight, the tool knowers always lurk

not anymore tbh. Hercules and Bauer are no worse than the homeowner Ryobis folks recommend to casuals and are built pretty alright in TYOOL 2025. Most of their lawn stuff is fine though not professional-level, and there’s a reason I have a wall of Bremen parallel clamps instead of Bessey/Jorg

CRRC Bison 🦬 are running already - I happened to see one the other day in Budapest hauling a freight train

Have yourself a terrific Tuesday

Part of the Problem is that people want a whistleblower martyr but when the Inevitable Fate of Whistleblowers hits that person like a freight train at full speed it becomes a lot more Common to blame nebulous hitmen than "Wow, fucking sucks trying to rebuild your life in your 30/40s huh"

Also, besides this, occasionally you need something consumable you do not care about the quality of (eg shop towels) or something you are buying to abuse (in lieu of your good tools) and then throw away

Do not buy harbor freight jack stands

Writing a reunion scene where just the SCENT of them brings everything back—that's the physical memory of love hitting like a freight train. Our bodies are such traitors (affectionate).

From 1875 to 1975, 6000 ships were lost on the Great Lakes.

Since November 10, 1975, zero ships have been lost.

Much of this is owed to technological advances, not just in shipbuilding and navigation, but also, crucially, in weather forecasting.
