#BlackBirds
All the ivy in and around my garden is full of blackbirds eating the berries and making their sweet little noise. I don't think it usually happens on the same day as frogs spawning

The Blackbirds have stripped the cotoneaster clean of berries no fieldfares or Redwings in the garden this year

The main theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #Birds&Bugs and the alternative theme is #EverydayBirds

These Common Blackbirds (Turdus merula) taking food back to the nest in my S. Cambridgeshire garden fit both themes.

My last attempt at posting art was MODERATED as rude (it was, but funny) so I’ve tried again. Good morning my little mistle thrushes & blackbirds.

Dawn chorus in full swing.
Gulls shout.
Blackbirds sing.
Morning's orchestra
is a wonderful thing.
Goddam beautiful day.

The Blackbirds and Robins were in full voice this morning - the Merlin App assures me that it was only these two responsible for bringing on the noise🎶🎶🎶

They are very intelligent, crows and blackbirds, have the ability to remember faces of humans. I always treat them with respect, they hold grudges.

Two blackbirds on a highway sign are laughing at me here with my wings clipped.

Stars over lone streets
Barely awake, I hear blackbirds
Is this the dead of night?

De eerste merels zingen weer om 6:15 uur vanmorgen! “Blackbirds singing in the dead of night” Zou het dat toch lente worden in #Gronigen?

Oh, wow! I don’t get any blackbirds or grackles, but plenty of house finches and goldfinches.
February 12, 2026 at 2:22 AM
I’m so jealous. I can’t get finches to save my life but I love my usual crew of doves, grackles and red winged blackbirds.

Let’s see ICE handle those asshole blackbirds.
There are reports of red-winged blackbirds arriving in the Chicago area.

Oh yes, they only hate cranes during nesting. In 2024 migration, I saw red-winged blackbirds migrating with sandhill cranes. It was lovely. A whole flock of them staying close to the cranes in the farm fields. It was a remarkable encounter.

It's just defending their nesting area. But those blackbirds CAN be quite aggressive towards the herons and cranes and egrets. That's the first egret I have seen being bothered by them. Nice capture!

I’ve had hummingbirds, house sparrows, three kinds of woodpeckers, house finches, Carolina wrens, starlings, red-winged blackbirds, goldfinches, tufted titmice, mourning doves, cardinals, blue jays, kestrels, red-shouldered hawks … an opossum, and a bear.

My Blackbirds haven't started yet! They are always late😂
February 11, 2026 at 7:45 PM
Yeah I got a distorted idea due to Woody Woodpecker 🤣
Seems ± the same size than a blackbird, indeed. Common these are over here, yes. Although not in cities; there are only magpies & pigeons in towns nowadays 😔😕 Just two miles out tho, and you’ll see plenty of blackbirds & others! 😊🐦

beimwort.bsky.social (2/2): calling for a while now, and the kestrels are squawking again, but I haven't heard the blackbirds yet. [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Gathering of blackbirds.
Informed by a photo from September, 2022.

Every year blackbirds gather for their migration to somewhere hopefully warmer.
