Baking — A batch of experimental cream cheese swirl jam cookies I made with dollops of homemade wild berry jam and a brown sugar cream cheese mixture very lightly incorporated to preserve the texture and give it a nice appearance. It was kind of ambitious but the outcome was a huge hit with everyone I shared them with. Very tasty! Baking — Before they went in the oven, I did my best to get a good smear of cream cheese and jam in every scoop both on top and in the middle. Baking — I miss them already. Wistful sigh. Fried beef ravioli with dollops of a sauce I made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs and brown ale...normally I'd use a wine but with the beef filling, the brown ale nailed it!

Hello nature chums. Does anyone have any idea what this is?
It is a white jelly substance so perhaps a fungus or mould of some sort? There are also smaller dollops of black goo with white nodules alongside the jellies and a few nodules in the white jelly.

Our Incomplete, Highly Controversial Glossary of Fruit Desserts. If there's anything more satisfying than tucking into a crumble, grunt or sonker, it's their quirky (and controversial) monikers. Each of these desserts is composed of fruit and a sweetened topping, the latter of which can be anything from a pastry or biscuit dough to a pancake-like batter to a loose streusel. and the definitions often vary by region. Here are a handful of our favorites and their defining characteristics. BROWN BETTY Sweesened fruit baked with layers of bread crumbs and butter. BUCKLE Thick cake batter poured over fruit. COBBLER Biscuit dough dolloped over fruit to resemble cobblestones. CRUMBLE An oat-free streusel baked over fruit. CRISP Fruit baked under a crunchy, streusel-like topping that often contain oats. Another snip from an abandoned WIP about Harriet, an historian researching East Anglian folklore. In miniscule Denburgh, she notes the same all caps warning about the very scary perils of socialism I once spotted in Walberswick. It 𝘪𝘴 spooky season after all! #ripwip
Just because she wasn’t a serious writer didn’t mean Harriet didn’t take seriously the routines of writing she’d hashed out through trial and error. Walks were useful to get her brain chugging, and best tackled first, especially in the summer, before the soupy heat of the day poufed out her hair and dampened her socks. Nothing quite like having to squelch one’s way in sweat-drenched shoes for a mile or two along a country lane. She’d been in Denburgh for nearly two weeks, and already she could sketch from memory a very serviceable map of its bounds on the back of a beer mat. It helped that the place was hardly bigger than the Wembley IKEA. On three sides, the village faded in from flat, green farmland, winding through tumbledown slate outbuildings topped with dollops of thick moss, past the snug, one-room stone cottages that must have once been for labourers, and now held Airbnbers looking for a bit of fresh air in an immensely Instagrammable location. Further down the Avenue—the village’s main artery since before the Domesday Book—Denburgh began to assert itself. There were Victorian cottages, some more humble than others, and one twentieth century stab at a miniature Georgian villa, which mostly failed to convince anyone that it was anything other than ugly. This, according to the blue placard mounted at its front gate, was the headquarters of the Houghton Valley Conservative Party. Some thoughtful soul had tacked a small card inside the adjoining glass-paned box for party announcements which stated, in bright red handwriting: WE DO NOT ACCEPT SOCIALISM. Harriet appreciated the honesty.

Out for an American breakfast. I've been disappointed by pancakes in Munich recently so settled on a place with a fair attempt at a Huevos rancheros, which now I'm not even sure if I tried in California.
