The oldest continuously occupied residential dwellings in today’s US are the Taos Pueblo houses in New Mexico (inhabited since ~1000–1450 AD).

But the residential house that has been on American lands the longest is the Fairbanks House in Dedham, Massachusetts (c. 1637–1641)

Agreed. It's just not going to be Hydrogen pipes and no wires to individual dwellings / businesses.

Son is back at uni and I nearly drove off the road when I caught a glimpse of the enormous moon rising in my rear view mirror. Tried to park up to see it at top of Rhigos but the mountains were too tall. Couldn’t resist a very quick and cold dash to the Iron Age settlement as twilight closed in

Why does the ABC constantly promote these 'tiny houses'?
They're not classed as dwellings for good reasons.
And yet the ABC constantly advocates for them.
The national news service should not be encouraging law breaking.

Folks, remember this one. It's usually the best way to wire a dwelling and most new dwellings will be wired with lights and plugs on separate circuits.

Reading these posts to obsess on that last shot of the data center lurking in the darkness, mirroring human dwellings in distance.
A lot of Eddington seems interested in talking about exploitation in more diffiuse forms than objective trafficking and sexual abuse. Capitalist greed researching and judo-manuvering every human emotion and insecurity to trim the maximum amount of excess human effort from the bone.

Rental properties covered are basically *all*. Exceptions are 2-family homes with the landlord living in the other unit and single dwellings where the owner lives and is renting out rooms

As Anna has said, there was no mandating for batteries. The only mention of batteries in the Future Homes Standard is as shown below 👇
SAP for new dwellings has for a while required a value for the Primary Energy Rate, which is far easier to meet with photovoltaics proposed.

I don’t understand why the prices and costs would be compared per unit of floor area, given that US dwellings are so much bigger. Wouldn’t a cost/price comparison be fairer if calculated per dwelling? Each unit typically has one kitchen. Each unit has the same number of fixed costs.

Most live in the most desolate, unihabitable and hostile parts of the country where there are almost no utilities, services or shops. Their families are housed in unsuitable dwellings and their electricity is cut off when their prepayments to the suppliers run out - even when it's over 100F.

Ok so I just have to get this out. It’s less about the actual buildings and more about the tax and financial structures that caused this in the first place. Deal with tax and vacant dwellings first. Then come back to building stuff. We know how to do that too but no one really wants to commit to it.

The driving tour is one of the tamer options — another tour requires a climb up a 32-foot ladder made of logs; another involves a shimmy and squeeze through a tunnel to get to some of the cliff dwellings accessible by hand and toe-holds only.

Having left the area, they left behind visual remnants that defy physics and gravity: long slabs of circular rock formations covered above by evergreens, below which remain 600 cliff dwellings, ensconced in canyon walls.
