#Panniers
Here in the Midwest, where bicycles are still somewhat viewed as transportation for poor people and nobody knows what "pannier" means: my panniers' contents are _safe_.

Afterwards, I wound my way home (still waiting on the bridges besides the Frederick Douglass to be cleared!) and made a spur of the moment decision to stop into my neighborhood's semi-new grocery store, Trader Joe's. 🚲 parked in the garage for the first time, definitely made it easier! #TranspoBingo

#Cycling along US60 west from Wickenburg #Arizona is one of the the more pleasant rides through the desert I've been on. Decent shoulders (though careful of shredded tire debris—I did get a puncture) lined with blooming brittlebrush & a lot of gorgeous desert.

Ended today off I-10 near Blythe.😎👍🏼

You’re right. The 20’s silhouette doesn’t need panniers??

Post your steed.

My "Critter" is now over 9000km on the current trip and ~22,000km total since I got it.💪🏼😎🚵🏼‍♂️

This BLM land near Granite Wash Pass on US60 is the most #RedDeadRedemption I've felt across the Sonoran #Desert of New Mexico & Arizona. What a beautiful place!

Eeeeeeehhhh. I have a Cannondale Topstone 2 eBike with panniers, mudguards, bags, racks, lights, bottles, pedals.

Without anything in the bags its going to be 20kg. Add in a bike lock, some tools, a pump, spare tubes. 25kg is possible.

eTricycles also exist for the disabled, or those who prefer.

I am in awe of the generosity & support that keeps coming our way, esp from my bike friends.

Thank you, @cleverhood.bsky.social for ensuring our core group of PTO moms get some new winter/rain gear and lots of amazing panniers to haul mutual aid supplies all over our neighborhood!

So they’re all Benno accessories. On the front I’ve got the Utility Front Tray and Utility Front Tray Bag. It is SO HANDY and fits a massive amount of stuff when extended, and folds down v small.
On the back I’ve got two City Panniers. I just leave them on all the time. They fit a lot of stuff!
😊

The extended cab pickup truck is outfitted to carry surfboards. The ebike can also be outfitted to carry a surfboard

That looks like you're going to need a rear rack and panniers as well

Btw it was a Honda Deauville bike with panniers. I slammed my shoulder off my helmet and wretched my back getting off to standing.
Still dealing with aftermath

Since reading this post, I have been to the dentist. A short local cycle.

Wearing a fluorescent orange raincoat, and massive colourful panniers on my bike, I had 2 vans and an SUV do u-turns on me offering me the choice of me stopping or crashing.

Road safety is nothing to do with hi-viz.

You probably have our finest German Ortlieb panniers, nicht wahr? The ones in which everything you need inevitably “migrates” to the least reachable corner at the bottom. 🤦🏼‍♂️

currently rocking red, pink, & mint bikes. pink was the only intentional color choice, others were just what was available

throwback to starting my own bike bus for my friends in middle school. worked great until we almost got hit by a landscaper's truck (while crossing at a crosswalk right next to school with a crossing guard and stop light). then they were too scared and i gave up biking by myself a few weeks later

I now judge hotels on whether they have courtesy bikes in reception for guests.
Ebikes, step through and panniers/cargo racks bonus points.

Guy at the bar in CO tonight said he was moving to Minneapolis for his first job out of college at Xcel.

When I found out he was moving to the wedge I couldn’t stop telling him how much he’s gonna love it. I hope I didn’t oversell

Told him to get bike panniers

The kid's cycling to high school is going well, but it seems he may need a bigger bag due to the amount of stuff he has to lug around. So, lazy web, what are the good cycle commuting backpacks? Since I only use panniers myself I have no idea.

Requirements:

Good back ventilation.

Big enough […]

I do not believe this happens in supermarkets and stores here, as I never see these just lying about.
Heck yesterday a supermarket checkout staff member would not even let me take a shopping basket just outside the door to load products into my bicycle panniers!

I think I have heard of it. I don't really use crates that often, and with my panniers I don't have much need to, but I might consider it for my Surly, or something similar. Always end up hauling some odd ball stuff on the rack of my Quick Haul
