Why am I paying village taxes if they can't bother to plow the roads or sidewalks?

Republicans fail even at the local level and they all need to be removed.

This statistical report, Motor Vehicle Incident Deaths (2013-2023), does not have the details necessary, like location of injury: road type, highway, sidewalks, municipal planning, enforcement context, etc

reframe this as traffic violence

Went out for a bike ride in my neighborhood (NW #pasadena) and spotted several new #flock cameras. Several appeared to be positioned such that they include sidewalks and views toward duplexes and apartments.

I commented about how annoying those little food delivery robots are, and some sidewalk-widening proponent insisted that it's just that all sidewalks are too narrow

I said we should widen sidewalks.
What’s the funniest reason someone got mad at you on Bluesky this year?

Three generations of Scouts, doing a good turn for somebody every day… and today it was the sidewalks at the Church. ❤️

We age in sidewalks, public spaces, transit stops and community centers — not in hospitals. As populations age, the built environment will determine whether our cities thrive or struggle in the decades ahead.

Yes, a lot of our homeless live in the woods too but these carts are on city street sidewalks. Sometimes left for days. That is not normal here. Also, I used to see homeless on corners and under our bridges. Now...gone.
The city cleared out all their stuff and there are no homeless to be seen.

what i found fascinating this morning is on one hand HRM delayed the opening of the Public Gardens due to the "liability if someone slipped on the paths", and on the other hand the same HRM has no issue with people breaking limbs on their sidewalks.

I do find it funny how they will have the textured footpaths everywhere for blind people to navigate but then will throw random obstacles everywhere or block off sidewalks.

I park on the sidewalks often when visiting my old neighborhood. #philly

It’s like a mini snow blower, but it doesn’t direct the snow to any particular direction except forward. It’s meant to be used on a couple of inches of snow, or on sidewalks, etc. I got one with a power cord because I didn’t know if I could rely on battery.

While this is only my first winter in Roseville, the city seems to do a pretty good job plowing the sidewalks. Spotted two sidewalk plows when I was out on my bike earlier.

@shawnmicallef.bsky.social Is there any hope of the city adding in plowing of sidewalks adjacent to parks into the coordination of Transportation Services of the rest of the sidewalks? Always jarring to see park-adjafent sidewalks as the only unplowed ones.

yeah the only salt i saw on sidewalks, with exception of a couple of ramps, was from private owners, nothing from the city

#hfxws report from a brief evening bike ride and errand at the Halifax Shopping Centre Annex. The wet patches on the roads & sidewalks are black ice and the wind gusts are strong. I didn’t see road salt on the municipal roads & sidewalks that I used, but the HSC Annex property is well salted.

Counterpoint : selfish Canadians don't shovel their sidewalks and/or park on them restricting the ability of everyone not in motor vehicles to get around. Parents with prams. Mobility scooters and walkers. Dog walkers. Hand-holding lovers. Cyclists.

Just did a 2+ mile walk. The state of things. 🤦‍♂️ I would expect it in “the south” but in northern Vermont, the conditions of streets, sidewalks, and multi-use paths is scandalous.

I got honked at in a one way street recently because I was behind someone literally walking on the street because of the ice'd sidewalks. Big truck guy!
