I met the bassist from Blur back in the late 90s and he was surprised I was the only one in the class I did not know who he was. lol

feel free to watch this video our bassist made a dozen years ago of a bunch of photos on his laptop to one of our good songs (this is me singing and playing guitar and writing the song at 17, I clearly peaked)

Continuum came out when I was at Berklee. Until then I hadn’t really respected his musicianship but that album really changed how I heard him. Also helped that bassist Pino Palladino and trumpeter Roy Hargrove played on the record. Gravity is such a good track.

Richard Davis, a bassist who played with absolutely everyone, taught at the university I went to. We were both at a party at another professor's house and each escaped to the same empty room and sat and silently flipped through old magazines till someone came and got him
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

I was sitting on the steps outside the Astoria in London back in 2004. Happily texting away on my Nokia 3330. I glance over and see Melissa Auf der Maur bassist of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins walking on the street towards me and right past me and I said bugger all.

Average mainstream news story: "Trump critics say the Constitution is constitutional. These voters aren't so sure."

Bassist Billy "Frogman" Thompson: "The authoritarian impulse is the very negation of liberty itself and an insult to true artists the world over."

Every band should have a stable drummer, but every bassist should be in twenty band concurrently in this essay I will

So I see a big sister kinship there. Also with the girls in the Go-Go’s and the Bangles, who were also the same generation and on that scene. Michael Steele of the Bangles was Micki Steele, original bassist and lead singer for the Runaways in fall 1975, before Mercury Records.

#Interestingly Felix Pappalardi rarely got the spotlight, but he shaped a lot of what we’ve heard: producer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and later Mountain’s bassist/co-lead vocalist and producer. In plain English: he did it all. #Mountain #FelixPappalardi #OneHitWondered

RJ: *groans and scrubs his hands down his face before slouching lower on the couch in the question room* That rooster...
SCOTT: *chuckles into his sip* I'm surprised you haven't cooked him up yet.
RJ: *smirks* Can't. He's named. There'd be karmic repercussions I'm not willing

A long & unpredictable 2025. Lots of family support. A few dips in photo mojo but still came away with some of my favourite images.

To 2026 & more BS likes (!?)

after the song, I politely raised my hand to ask a question. I don't remember if there was a Q&A thing between the songs but that would be weird. Dunno.

I asked the singer why he laughed during the song. he just pointed at the bassist, who shrugged, and said he did something funny.

1/ Bassist Eugene Wright might be best known for being a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, but before he played with Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker. Post Brubeck ‘the Senator’ worked with Buddy Collette, Dorothy Donegan and many, many more.

The Wedding Present in Dover.

It had been 39 years, two months and three weeks since I saw The Wedding Present, but they were playing Dover on Sunday. I had tickets and had invited former colleague, peter, to come along.
