Also it foregrounds The Horslips' Dearg Doom, a banging tune that was seared into the brain of anyone my age because Larry Mullen Jr. repurposed the main riff for a song to support the Irish national team at Italia '90.

An Bratach Ban is an inspired suggestion. Even at their most "traditional", Horslips were spreading the gospel of rock'n'roll.

Hmmm... favourable as I am to Horslips, that's a bit too close to trad for Peig Spears's taste (rock or pop).

I had to buy this on CD. My vinyl copy is quite far gone...

Still, the closest thing I have to a Christmas album and it's glorious.

Horslips' album The Táin
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

Apologies for the lateness of the hour #vinylsanta but this is so much up my alley. I have a different Horslips album on CD and enjoyed it immensely and Queen mainly at Live Aid, who could say no.

Thank you very much

Less sweary prestige stuff - Jesus of Nazareth (as Judas), Wuthering Heights (the one that Kate Bush was inspired by), Disraeli
He was in a 90s BBC drama as a Northern Soul DJ reforming a 60s soul group (inc. Isaac Hayes, Huggy Bear and Apone off Aliens) written by Barry Devlin from Horslips.

likewise... Pops County Kerry (Black Irish) Momma (Edinburgh)... indeed... indentured servitude and lump it.

You won't find a fairer, kinder, funnier, compassionate, fabulously rude and rascal-like peoples... for the Craic.

I feel like it's time to listen to Horslips Celtic Symphony 🍀
