We are all in this together

HARAMBEE-

Kiswahili—-> “All pull together”.

Step out, someone steps while you rest a bit in order to continue the journey

It is a bit much to take in one giant swath

Thank you for your voice

#Swahili verbs take special prefixes for human subjects: ni-, u-, a- in the singular, and tu-, m-, wa- in the plural. Ninajifunza Kiswahili. I’m learning Swahili. #SwahiliGrammar #SwahiliVerbs #Languages #LearnSwahili. thelanguagegarage.com/swahili-pres...

Scenes among kiswahili speakers if they named it Demimi, very fitting for its target users
A Chinese app called ‘Are You Dead?’, designed to check on people living alone, has surged in popularity and is now one of China’s top-selling paid apps.

Kiswahili cha Zanzibari kinanipiga chenga but Bi Kidude sounds like she's on Bobby Mapesa time on Muhogo wa Jang'ombe.

Kama huzungumzi Kiswahili, unaweza kunakili na kubandika kwenye mtafsiri. Lakini kama hii ingekuwa picha bila maandishi mbadala, usingekuwa na chaguo hilo. Hivi ndivyo ilivyo kwa mtu anayetumia kisoma skrini. Hakuna dalili. Hakuna muktadha. Nyamaza tu. Ongeza maandishi mbadala. Ni muhimu.

I speak Kiswahili and English (of course) fluently but this year I wanted to learn Spanish but there are so many variations of it and I don’t know where to start

I might start posting on here in Spanish & Kiswahili for the practice. I’m so rusty.

My second language is a signed language, so yes, lol, but also absolutely yes.

Same with spoken Spanish, or Kiswahili, the prosody is different for each plus my mannerisms/nonverbals.
Does your body language change when you speak different languages?

Every day in Maseno taught me something new. The weather was pleasant, much like UCU’s, but the town’s way of life was different. People spoke a mix of English and Kiswahili, and the currency exchange felt strange, with large notes turning into small coins, which one had to travel 25 kilometres to get.

Only kiSwahili speakers will understand this. 😂😂😂

Kiswahili for similar reasons responsible or somehow personally blameworthy for sounding like that. But that people do sound like that is a pretty strong indicator of a matter of ethical interest.

*was that it owed its existence and survival to social distance between (mostly Black African) speakers of Kiswahili and (mostly White) speakers of English or other IE language. It’s probably unproductive to hold any individual speaker of the language, or anyone who reliably sounds not great in

In Kiswahili, I borrowed the convention of translating "Hata mimi," directly to English.

I will forever prefer this to, "Me, too."

A ministry paradox: 1. I am thankful I heard 2 gentlemen visiting in Kiswahili today at Walmart in Bismarck. 2. I regret being too busy to join the conversation

As a Tanzanian friend’s reaction to me and my 2 weeks of Kiswahili classes trying to say that I wanted to ride a hippopotamus taught me, romance is especially rife with opportunities for confusion by a translator without understanding.
