I'd recently caught all 3 & brought them inside. one girl developed vestibular disease. grey has severe stomatitis. & she seemed perfectly healthy. grey just got a dental that fixed his mouth. & now suddenly, she's just gone. she & grey were inseparable. i worry how he'll handle this.

Sisko, pictured few weeks ago in heated bed. He had surgery today for his stomatitis. Hopefully he'll be feeling even better when he heals up. He's home & hiding after his vet surgery today. #grateful for pet insurance (though I wish everyone had access to health care and insurance for themselves.)

Thank you for sharing. One of our cats' stomatitis came back so now I have to get her to the vet on top of all this misery.

Yesterday I kind of stole my childhood cat from my father because he didn’t want me to take him to my vet. Blood work revealed kidney disease, anemia, dehydration and his teeth are in terrible condition and will be extracted on Friday. He has stomatitis on top of all this and need to be shaved

she had stomatitis so the cat dentist stole all her teef D: now there’s just Gums

Awww, she's got the elderly skinnies like our Jaina and Illidan. Panda and Illy are the same age.

Have you tried Nutri-Cal? It helped our cat with stomatitis regain an appetite after surgery.

She might have feline tooth resorption. Both our rescue cats had it. It can cause cancer and stomatitis. Both cats had all their teeth removed by an pet oral surgeon.

Can a #morphine #mouthwash reduce chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis pain? A systematic review shows significant #pain reduction, delayed need for systemic opioids, and no serious adverse effects - a promising local strategy for supportive cancer care.

yeah, we learned a valuable lesson. altho cleaning woudn’t have prevented resorption or even slowed it

our first cat had stomatitis, had all his teeth removed, and our next 2 cats died at 4 and never had any tartar buildup at all by 12, respectively. we just didn’t know

(Roux has stomatitis, he had to have all of his teeth pulled at 11 months old. He’s 7 now, so much better since then 💙💙💙)

Vet tech here. They should have called you to authorize the extractions. Probably needed the extractions if your kitty has stomatitis. They should never have released cat to you unless completely recovered from anesthesia.

Later on, we solve the mystery of our girl's stinky breath.

Stomatitis. She had to have all her teeth pulled, except the front ones so she still has fang teefies.

Stomatitis + chronic bronchitis, which are cheap to treat short-term, + him being a stray mean that most pet insurance companies will not reimburse me for shit. I paid for pet insurance for three years and they never covered a single thing

Daisy is another 20-year-old resident at #twilightcats. She is #FIV+, hyperthyroid & currently on abs for stomatitis. To help us continue our #catrescue next year, please consider donating to our #Christmas2025 gofund.me/6b0a7dc07 this #Caturday. Many purrs and thanks. #superseniorcats #catsofBluSky

I wish cinnamon contact stomatitis on all my worst enemies. You get it from eating too much cinnamon candy in a concentrated period of time (guilty). It won't kill you, but it makes your mouth so sore it literally hurts to eat, for days.
I wish calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder in all my worst enemies.
You know how people are like, "I wouldn't wish x on my worst enemy"

I'm not that person.

I absolutely would wish ankle tendonitis and plantar fasciitis on my worst enemy.

Soft tissue injuries related to the feet are top 10 worst things.

This one is Shumai, one of my personal forever babies :3 she has stomatitis and had most of her teeth removed around a year old so she is more prone to blepping haha

All donations towards my ko-fi go directly towards my kittie's teeth surgery! She has stomatitis which in a nutshell makes her basically become allergic to own her own teeth sadly. Anything helps!

handsome boy!

our first cat, haskell, had to have all his teeth removed at 4 years old, due to stomatitis, so we know they adapt quickly.

just a bummer!!

The next time I decide to gobble down a bunch of cinnamon red-hots just because I want something sweet, or pack away a whole box of Hot Tamales, someone please stop me. I think I've got the worst case of contact stomatitis on the planet.

A ZELOS FACT A DAY UNTIL HIS BIRTHDAY: zelos got no teeth. none. he had juvenile feline stomatitis and it was so severe they ended up taking every single one of his teeth. he has a little gummy muppet maw with one bite force: Maximum. that gummy maw. will flatten your finger. for plastic.

Our Samara kitty had all her teeth removed because of stomatitis and it was the best possible gift we could have given her.

Zimmy's gonna feel so good when the problem teefs are gone!

Poor wee man, has ringworm and giardia and stomatitis.

It's not as scary as the name suggests, but it has that name because it's in the same family of other diseases you can get if left untreated; Periodontitis, Stomatitis and Noma (don't look those up like I did because holy shit).
December 4, 2025 at 2:03 PM
The potentially big one though is that FIV cats are prone to a gum condition called stomatitis, so their dental health is very important. You may end up needing to do annual cleanings and possibly more extractions than an average cat.
