Same with the counties in SWVa that were affected- they didn't get FEMA help either, so they must have voted for it!

Never you mind that much of (ok, most of) SWVa, including many of the affected counties, tend to go red. Nope, let's just pretend they're blue.

This is how absurd that thinking is.

Starting to look like much of the #RVA area could see around 2-4" of snow tomorrow.

Lighter amounts in NOVA (1-2" north of I-64), heavier in SWVA (3-5" near Roanoke/Blacksburg). Precipitation will end as a snow/sleet/freezing rain mix by noon or 1pm and could be a thin icy glaze on top.

Straight up, if you were a MD, why WOULD you move to a rural hospital that was closed due to funding cuts made by the Feds? Why uproot from an urban area, move to, say, SWVA and then it get a closed abruptly next election even tho it was reopened?

What +good+ MD would do this?

Fun story bc insomnia. When I showed up to that job one evening, the dock manager told me I was on Charleston that night, for the first time, and asked me if I knew how to get there.

Me (from SWVA): "Straight up I-77, I reckon."

Him:

Me:

Him:

Me: "Oh you mean Charleston, South Carolina!"

Statewide %RV turnout is just a hair below 2021, 54.3% vs 54.9%, but the electorates are very different

2021: Reddest localities held up best, bluest lagged
2025: Bluest cities and counties excelled, reddest (esp in SWVA) didn't show up

If in-state volunteers and the campaign could focus on late rural messaging pivot related to Trump fucking over American beef/soybean producers while out of state pushed in Nashville, they could drive down R margins. Half the R vote margin comes from the small/rurals. Similar to SWVA for Spanberger.

If any of my mountain peeps in the SEKY/SWVA area wants to share this around, we are trying to fill some bellies and get some toys to kids in need.

Well, my neighbors big light was a hindrance, but this is what I got. I can't stay up real late to see if we get more of a show.

Per @vpapupdates, the lowest turnout relative to the statewide average was heavily in SWVA (Buchanan, Bristol, Norton, Lee, Wise, Norton, etc). Also low turnout in Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News. High turnout in Goochland, Powhatan, Hanover, Nelson, etc. bluevirginia.us/2025/11/poli...

Interesting chart from VPAP comparing 2021 and 2025 turnout in Virginia

Dem counties generally ran at or ahead of 2021

GOP counties generally ran behind

Lowest turnout was in Buchanan in SWVA

But keep in mind persuasion also important as Spanberger won independents

EVERY COUNTY IN VIRGINIA MOVED BLUE - even the rural counties in SWVa. So Mike, you are spouting nonsense and you and all of your corrupt nazi white nationalists should get ready for the blue wave that is coming.

Spanberger ran up wild margins in the DC/Richmond suburbs, flipped 6 Trump counties, and cut her losses in the rest of the state — some SWVA counties moved 15-20 points to her compared to 2021 gov's race. My first election results for @washingtonpost.com ! www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

I used to live in northeast TN. SWVA was one of the reddest counties in the US. For it to start going blue is definitely a miracle!

SWVA is a disaster area for the GOP.

This should be enough for Jones if SWVA was truly depressed. We’ll see.

Turnout in SWVA was in the fucking toilet. They netted 161,662 votes out of SWVA+Valley, not counting any places Dems had net lead. In 2021 they netted 214217. So they lost 52555 votes overall. Minor imperfections due to Frederick not being all in and minor remaining votes elsewhere but still. Ouch.
