Bari Weiss is set to be named the editor in chief of CBS News, the New York Post reports
Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days — giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.

Weiss — a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent — is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.

It is not the least bit surprising that the dude who played with Trump’s hair before the 2016 election wants to “avoid politics” now.

Hard to overstate how transformative Jane Goodall was as a scientist.

She took the best of the scientific method--empirical observation--and used it to push back on existing scientific orthodoxies.

Like the abusive ex boyfriend who declares that the woman is a hateful bitch, and the worst person to ever live, who nevertheless keeps seeking her out by, say, showing up at her job.

Is it too obvious to point out how gendered this is: that the right sees themselves as a collective husband or father, trying to enforce his right to the attention, care, and comfort provided by his wife and mother—that is, American liberals?

Ken Starr, whose report helped impeach Bill Clinton, is among the names mentioned in the latest Epstein document drop.
In 2008, Epstein suggested Starr explain his role, even drafting language for him: “I don’t mean to put words in your eloquent mouth…”

Charlie Kirk's grieving widow had just left the stage moments before the fireworks for Trump kicked off.

Just so wildly and blatantly inappropriate for a memorial service for someone else.

Fucking nuts.

Just 2 gun rights advocates sitting behind a wall of bulletproof glass while enjoying a memorial for a gun rights advocate who got murdered by a gun.

Kirk’s ‘memorial’ getting a live coverage on The Guardian is a great example of how the right gets automatically framed as the default political movement to be ‘understood’ while the victims of that same movement never will never get the same amount of coverage

Also, shame on any democrat politician who thought for one moment this was a radicalized progressive. We don’t radicalize toward weaponry and murder. We generally radicalize toward justice, protest, mutual aid, and community action.

The reason Charlie Kirk is being lionized by so many journalists is simple: he was very good at cultivating journalists and it seems a lot of journalists don't seem to understand the concept of being cultivated as a pet reporter in exchange for scoops or leads. They think he was their friend.

“Kirk & I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side of the continued possibility of American politics.”

So it’s personal? B/c if you were a Black woman or transgender, Kirk would not imagine you having any role in the future of American politics.
greenwell.bsky.social
If I were editing a column about Charlie Kirk’s political genius, I would tell the writer he needed to quote Kirk’s actual political beliefs. If the writer responded that doing so would weaken or distract from his argument, it’d be a pretty good sign that the column was not ready for prime time.

Don’t mention RFK Junior‘s “good ideas,” without making sure you reference Frances Moore, Lappé and Michelle Obama from whom he stole them. And remember, iRepublicans who systematically cut school budgets to the bone so that kids don’t have recess or any kind of exercise.

not just that he has no constitutional authority, there isn't even any particular legal or institutional mechanism by which the president can make anyone treat this as anything other than a weird advisory opinion.
joshtpm.bsky.social
This “explicit” is a weird editorial choice. The constitution gives the president no power over this at all. It’s not ambiguous.
