How common are “survey professionals” - people who take dozens of online surveys for pay - across online panels, and do they harm data quality?

Our paper, FirstView at @politicalanalysis.bsky.social, tackles this question using browsing data from three U.S. samples (Facebook, YouGov, and Lucid):

Even by current standards, this Bondi testimony is shocking. She seems to see herself as the vassal of a king, showing contempt for oversight by the elected representatives of the people.

DURBIN: You won't even say whether you talked to the WH about this?

BONDI: I'm not going to discuss any internal conversations with you

D: They're going to transfer TX Guard troops to the state of Illinois. What's the rationale?

B: I wish you loved Chicago as much as you hate President Trump

I disagree. You may already understand the nature of the threat, but not everyone does. Part of motivating people for resistance is highlighting why resistance matters. If you want practical advice on what to do, I suggest joining organizations facilitating this: www.nokings.org/partners

There is little doubt that we are headed toward the further deployment of active duty military against Trump's political opponents. This is beyond the framers' worst nightmares. Pure tyranny and it must be resisted.

UPDATE: Hegseth today called up 400 members of the Texas National Guard, with Gov. Abbott's apparent permission, to be deployed "where needed, including in the cities of Portland and Chicago." www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

Stop and think of how wildly lawless ths claim is: the President commands the military, so he can send them against the American people and nobody is allowed to stop him?
ryanenos.bsky.social
The executive branch calling the enforcement of the law by judges "insurrection" is a five-alarm fire for democracy.
ryanenos.bsky.social
Would have been nice of they would have at least kept it close though.

I can't get over the utter contempt this crowd has for not only the military but the American public generally. It's all bread and circus for them, all the time.

Walking through Harvard Yard this morning and seeing, as I do at any moment, hundreds of tourists from all over the world, marveling at the greatness of our universities. And to think that Trump wants to dismantle it in the name of authoritarianism.
ryanenos.bsky.social
My best guess is still that we will get through to the other side with our democracy intact. The question for university leaders is whether they want to live with the shame of having been on the wrong side of history.

But also, I am not sure if this is anything more than delusional ramblings by Trump that the New York Times continues to repeat.

If Harvard bows down to this lawless president, it will cover itself in shame and betray its motto “Veritas.”

Don’t pretend to stand for truth if you’re going to surrender to this bully. Appeasement only feeds the beast and puts us all at greater risk.
