Hi everyone,

I’m back on here after a hiatus. I’m an engineer who likes to cycle, tinker, work on robotics, machining, make things, and solve problems. I also like to talk about cutting edge science.

This is an important point, one I make in Everyone Else is Lying to You.

Makary, Bhattacharya, Kulldorff, Prasad and the rest lied with such speed and comfort it was impossible to even begin to correct them all.

Just an avalanche.
Refuting such disinformation was the goal of We Want Them Infected, which revealed the truth of Brandolini's law, an adage that states the amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it. WWTI doctors created false and misleading claims much faster than anyone could correct them. Dr. Makary's article was a written version of a Gish Gallop, a debating technique that uses "a rapid series of specious arguments, half-truths, misrepresentations and outright lies, making it impossible for the opponent to refute all of them within the format of the debate."
As political propagandist Steve Bannon famously said, the goal was
"to flood the zone with shit," which is exactly what WWTI doctors did.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Tens of millions of people have died from Covid.

Every country should have responded with record investments in public health infrastructure.

Instead the US government is putting us all at greater risk of more catastrophes by firing hundreds of top scientists whose job is to prevent outbreaks.

Thankfully, some of yesterday's CDC firings have been rescinded.

But this should be a major scandal, not business as usual in this shitshow of an administration. It's either spectacular incompetence or an effort to make even politically untouchable positions feel precarious to those in them.

100s of #CDC employees were notified Friday they were being fired — RIF'd. The firings cross multiple parts of the agency, endangering its core mission of keeping Americans safe.
Saturday, some were informed they were RIF'd in error.
