“Yeah, no, I get it, but like, his name was Ratatouille, cuz he’s a rat. So like, if a rat hid under my hat and made me good at baseball, he wouldn’t be named Batatouille.

*pause*

Unless it’s a bat. But that’d only work for night games.”

On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for a US attack on My Lai, an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam.

But as the attack developed below, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else:

A massacre.

He decided to act. 1/28

New: Bari Weiss booked Hillary Clinton, Mike Pompeo, and Antony Blinken for a roundtable on Gaza, her first major move at CBS.

Notably on a CBS call today in which the panel was floated, one producer also repeatedly emphasized the need to hear from Palestinians in Gaza (Weiss did not respond).

News: Bari Weiss just sent a memo to staffers at CBS News asking them to produce a memo explaining "how you spend your working hours—and ideally, what you've made (or are making) that you're most proud of."

One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

Except that the Dublin system doesn't say that. The first criterion to decide on which State is responsible for processing an application is whether you have family elsewhere in the EU.

Just want to remind everyone that little moments of joy are so important right now.

For instance, my cat does not understand the human concept of kisses beyond Incoming Nose = Love. So every time she’s happy, she’ll smush her face or shove her nose into ours.

Please share your joys with us.

Out of curiosity, are BBC going to be acting as the government's stenographer like this for the whole year the utterly pointless PR stunt "one in one out" policy is running, or could they try actually ensuring context and balance in all stories about migration?
