It's amazing and also horrifying at how angry the fascists are that protesters are putting on inflatable costumes. Like they think it's unfair to highlight just how evil these cosplaying fascist fucks are.

The Portland ICE protest camp literally has a rack full of inflatable costumes for demonstrators who want to try one on...

I NEED to tell you the story of Tae Heung “William” Kim.

He's a graduate student at Texas A&M where he's working on a vaccine for Lyme disease.

He's a *legal permanent resident* of the United States.

And he's been in ICE detention for 12 days & counting, transferred Tuesday to South Texas.
From left to right, Dr. Albert Mulenga, William Tae Heung Kim, Dr. Thu Thuy Nguyen, Dr. Alex Kiarie Gaithuma, Dr Hassan Hakimi and Emily Bencosme Cuevas. Kim is a Texas A&M researcher who was detained in San Francisco last Monday despite being a permanent resident of the United States and a green card holder.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

Musicians are starting to speak out finally about ICE a little bit. Chapell Roan did the same the other night.

Very disappointed in how business as usual athletes are right now

NEW — Chance the Rapper decked out a CTA train with his starry album art and rode with passengers to the South Side.

Later that night, he brought his “And We Back” tour to Northerly Island.

He even displayed a message on stage that got lots of attention: “f—ck ICE.”

Chicago got the full experience as Chance the Rapper brought ‘Star Line’ to life • The TRiiBE
With a decorated Red Line, surprise guests, and a Northerly Island show, Chance’s comeback was a city-wide celebration.

If you are interested in old New York gay history, watch old episodes of The Emerald City, the first TV show made for gay and trans people. 1977, right before AIDS. My old film teacher Gene Stavis produced and interviewed in it. m.youtube.com/watch?v=2eQW...

I just know this cat walked a Roosevelt down, took no prisoners at the fall of an empire, and still owes money to a Pharaoh

I found a 19th century Cat Villain!
A huge chonk of a fluffy cat sitting on a table near an open fire. The cat is cream and grey and appears to be shaped like a barrel in a fur coat. They are scowling fiercely with their moustache and bewhiskered ears apparently flowing back into the cold wind. There's a definite vibe that this villainous cat twirls their moustache as they evict orphans into the aforementioned blizzard and think Scrooge was an easy-going lightweight. They are magnificent.

Yes, it's weird that Peter Thiel can't stop talking up the Antichrist.

But look on the bright side—he's also the guy who:

-Gave @jd-vance-1.bsky.social his first VC job
-Funded Vance's firm
-Bought his Senate seat
-Got him the VP slot

Have a nice day!

If you have a library you can run for the board of, do it!

Otherwise you end up with a list of corporate interests being represented like we have in Philly.

(Ours are either voted in by the board or appointed by the mayor so they're all representatives of local power)

So basically this is Iranian Hostage Crisis 2.0, just with a 9-month delay in the payoff for no particular reason.
dabenner.bsky.social
This seems like confirmation
Then Mr. Trump won the presidency back, and the Biden administration was determined to get a cease-fire in place by January, before it left office. It drafted a peace plan, much of which was quite similar to the “20 point plan” Mr. Trump recently issued. There was slow progress: More than 130 hostages had been released by the time the January cease-fire took place.

“We handed over a cease-fire that silenced the guns, had hostages coming out and aid going in, along with a day-after plan to make it permanent,” Mr. Blinken said. But when the new administration took over, “the moment was squandered,” he added. “Israel and Hamas went back to war for eight months.”

Israeli officials tell a different story. Mr. Biden was a lame duck, they noted, and disengaged. Mr. Trump was a known entity, less likely to lecture Mr. Netanyahu in private or public. They put their money on a new president, and a new negotiating team

A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.

I’m also alarmed at how leftists are trying to rehabilitate Marjorie Taylor Greene—an antisemitic, transphobic, homophobic, hateful dipshit—all because she paid lip service to a suffering group of people, ignoring her blatant reasons for doing so.

I went to school with a lot of Jewish kids. NYC is a hub for Jewish people both practicing and not but outside of a few cities in the NE most people do not encounter many or get exposed to their culture at all which makes a lot of them sound very dumb.

The Speaker of the House isn't allowed to give that answer. He's not some guy who missed the local news that night.

Anyone not following up with "isn't it your job to know? What were you doing instead of paying attention to services being cut for American children" isn't a journalist

REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know
