yeah like if anything i think in that particular brand of Extremely Online far-left politics, you're encouraged to sympathize with palestinians and say free palestine, and to see ukrainians and other eastern europeans as a bunch of neo-nazis who deserve having a boot on the neck to keep them in line

your tactic of protesting in an inflatable frog suit which gets normal people on your side is far inferior to my tactic of posting about laser blinding helicopter pilots which is both wildly illegal and, were it to succeed, would put basically *everyone* against me

understanding why burrito taxis seemed to suddenly get so expensive requires you to understand ZIRP and the debt-financed structure of the modern tech economy, which is extremely annoying and frustrating when all you want is a burrito

agree with this wholeheartedly, though it isn’t limited to any ideological bent, being angry about the high price of burrito taxis was not strictly a partisan affair

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.

I broadly agree, but also think this is too generous to the leftists sharing the meme in question. They aren’t resharing a Nazi meme about Jews stealing food cultures because they’re being tricked; they’re sharing because a segment of the left agrees Jews are parasites without culture of their own.
samuelhayimbrody.bsky.social
The reason Nazis make memes like this is to get leftist crossover and inspire others to make their own copies. People fall for it

and especially with this clique, everything is politics and if you don't toe their line all the time then you support the bad things, and therefore you're a bad person, and they're allowed to yell at you as much as them want, and anyone trying to stop them from yelling at you is also a bad person

A foundational belief of the alleged leftist talking heads on this site is that they have no obligations towards others but others have obligations towards them.
saganomics.bsky.social
It's not great seeing a lot of influential accounts agreeing with each other they are not responsible for the use of their platforms - "we're just people too" - including a person running for public office.

I am not a very influential person. I am an officer of a small city's Democratic party with 300 followers on this site. Do I vent into the open on here? Absolutely not. It's disturbing that this is too much to ask of, say, a candidate for state legislature with 182k followers. it shouldn't be hard.

"We have views identical to those of stormfront" and you think this makes liberals look bad?
scorbymcmichaelson.bsky.social
lmao, how is it a stormfront meme? "israeli" is a synthetic settler colonial nationality that has coopted every single one of its supposedly defining characteristics from other ethnicities

You can tell the food discourse is dumb because "most food inside and all food outside of the Americas based on Capsicum, potatoes, or tomatoes is inherently the product of genocide" is inherently true and no one cares.

yeah like fundamentally, these people want for the entire state to be frozen in amber at the time they bought their homes as their sarcophagus to be buried in, and what the rest of society needs is to be willing to tell them no

‘Not going to suck it up’: What turned this former hippie town into the angriest place in California? The local rancor is focused on plans for a six-story, 243-unit apartment building near the town center. The School Street project is universally loathed. Almost everyone believes it to be out of place in a town where one-story and two-story buildings are the norm, and they worry about the impact on parking, traffic and fire safety.

At least 5 of the Democrats running for that Congressional seat—including a school board member, a mayor, & 2 state senators—have been on the neighborhood streets doing rapid response, and/or have been assaulted by ICE at Broadview

Uninformed cynicism is a toxin. Please don’t spread it.

If you are buying silly costumes and whistles to help stop our country from sliding into fascism: congratulations on doing more than our elected Democratic congresspeople!
mollyknight.bsky.social
Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

if we are going to have a supreme court that is as powerful as it is, i basically think justices should be forbidden from public comment on their work as well as any supplemental source of income while they are on the bench. (they should also ride circuit again but that's a bit separate.)
andycraig.bsky.social
The substance of what she's saying is bad and unconvincing, but more fundamentally, I really don't think Supreme Court justices should be going on book tours where they publicly comment on their work and respond to criticism of it. Either put it in a written opinion or hold your peace.

This is why the work of community watch groups is so important. It's not just capturing the faces of ICE agents, but also their vehicles. In Massachusetts we are already seeing them adapt and change their tactics in response to the work of community groups.
schnorkles.bsky.social
One of the things that I think the internal politics of ICE/CBP is probably grappling with and didn't quite get when all this kicked off is that the fact that the surveillance state could be turned back on the secret police in a way that makes it very hard for anything they do to be ignored.
