Good morning from Brighton, where we will be reporting on the counterprotest against the FiLiA conference 2025.

One restaurant along the march route also has bunting in support of FiLiA.

The same bunting was reportedly seen at Brighton Railway Station yesterday, however today it is nowhere to be seen.

Here is a line i hope some folks will take if called to speak on radio or TV about it.

I wrote an article in January about where we have ended up in English law re. "deception as to sex", and what that means for trans people. I think it's likely we can expect to see more of these sorts of cases going forward.

And assuming the BBC's quotes from the judge are accurate, he believes a trans woman who has sex with a straight man is by definition a rapist, as he does not believe it possible for straight men to be attracted to trans women without being deceived (which is rape now, but only for trans people).

There’s no defending a law which functions in this way. Its only purpose is to criminalise transitude and gender non-conformity.

If you refuse to see this, you’re simply an enemy.

Another curious fact: under English law not disclosing your birth sex is rape by deceit, but if you’re a cop during an undercover operation and get people to sleep with you under a false pretence this way, the law see this as perfectly consensual and legal.

Even sex resulting in pregnancy after one partner lied about their fertility, or resulting in STD transmission after one lied about having an STD*, is not considered to legally invalidate consent, despite far more demonstrable harm than lying about body parts for sex acts not involving those parts!

The terrifying, brand new threat of people on TV misleading the public. I would say this one is not even in the top thousand most damaging bullshit assertions presented to the public this century so far, and quitepossibly this year.

If she'd been married and lied about being single or if she'd been a convicted abuser and lied about that she would not be going to jail.

People lie all the time before sex, during sex and after sex.

If you're trans, that's a crime.
