Again, no one is trying to *sell* anyone on the benefits of AI. They're just cramming it into everything we use, every site we visit and everywhere we go, and taking our continued use by way of... existing as consent.

Fucking sucks.

We talk about how ICE/DHS need a reckoning in 2029, but that's only the surface. The entire apparatus is guilty.

ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

🧵 regarding the shutdown:

The Democrats aren’t being clear enough about this but we can be: this shutdown is about saving lives.

If we don’t reverse the Medicaid cuts (and the ACA subsidies on insurance bought through the exchanges) that Republicans made this year, people will die.

Did a loop around the neighborhood to combat the urge to hermit forever. Saw several people out with whistles, on ❄️ watch. Our alderwoman even waved me over to check in, which was really sweet and heartening, too. I thanked her for all her efforts in fighting for RP. She said to stay safe. ❤️

@clairewillett.bsky.social your thread was VERY informative & i appreciate it so much, but:

"if you’re an American Catholic your family were OBVIOUSLY immigrants too"

MANY Indigenous americans are catholic. i just felt like that needed addressing, sorry to bypass the No Quotes!

Hi Sally. When Weiss published a supposed expose on the death of George Floyd, a veteran criminal justice reporter showed in deep detail that the piece was not just wrong but filled with falsehoods and misrepresentations. Weiss did not retract the piece. What do you think of that?

"It can't be 'uninvented', so I may as well use it." is such a weak fucking excuse for AI slop.

No technology can be "uninvented," my good scum-peddler. Ever. How we apply it, or abandon it is the crux of it.

Its use remains A CHOICE. You're choosing to use it, and I'm choosing to say you suck.

Death does not magically unmake the shitty things one does. I thought this was a point very much driven home some weeks ago.

And I dont know which rock you've been under but lots of people criticize Allen supporters all the time! While they're still living!

Hate to ask, but I could use a little more help. I am aggressively applying for jobs, and even have an interview already scheduled for next week. So hopefully I should hear some good news before long.

Diane Keaton died.

She stood behind Woody Allen and his work in spite of the numerous allegations, not giving much of a shit to his creepy behavior.

So while she was tremendously talented.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.

Would it also be a comfort to the Catholic folks who are trapped in the ICE facility? Sort of a "We brought Jesus with us and even though He was turned away, He is here for you"?
