Look I don't know any of these guys but I can't say I share the surprise that Louie C.K. or Chappelle signed up
David Cross folks.

I fully understand how difficult it is to remain focused on any one particular atrocity but this really ought to be a serious scandal and people need to pay heavy prices for this
I think the Trump admin assumed no one would try to find out who the people on the boats they blew up really were

internet culture desks aren't just for cute meme trend stories. ever since gamergate, understanding how and why info moves online is critical to seeing how we got *here*
National political reporters: consult your gaming desk. You likely have a massively blind spot — this isn’t a dig at anyone, because I have this blind spot too b/c I’m not a gamer and am trying to adjust for it in real time — covering this very important moment if u don’t game & don’t know the memes

Speaking of Italians, the right-wing/MSM project of the past week sounds just like Mussolini's granddaughter.

I agree, and can we also please stop with the “why it’s his signature” analysis?

Believe your own eyes and ears.

Enough.

He’s a fucking rapist and among those he has raped or abetted the rape of are minors.
I hope everyone will forgive the bluntness of my language, but it seems like bluntness is warranted: it now seems pretty clear that the president raped children or at least knew about and actively facilitated the rape of children.

I think it is time we stopped using coded language to say that.
This (circumstantial yet compelling evidence) CANNOT be shared enough....

#Trump and #Epstein shared far too much to be ignored.

The best quote I’ve ever seen about this is that every Democratic leader of the 21st century is ideally suited by temperament and mindset to be in congress in 1995 debating the v-chip.
the democratic party's bias to normalcy is gonna kill us off.

the gop is literally talking about a military junta and the democratic leader is operating like he can just cut a deal with republicans like its normal times.

Since Michael turned off replies and quote tweets, like any good journalist seeking the truth would, I'll point out that people like him, Nate Silver, Matt Yglesias, etc. say shit like this as cover for the fact that THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THE POLICY AND THEY WANT IT TO FAIL.

It ... it incredibly unsettling when people say "signs" of Eugenics when RKF Jr.'s stated policy on diseases is (paraphrased) ...

"only the weak die from diseases so it's ok for diseases to spread through society"

That is not only erroneous, but also an *explicitly* Eugenic stance.

I love to show up every day for my job, which is standing around holding the front of my tactical vest and getting told to choke to death by thousands of passers-by while 11 of my coworkers handcuff a roofer on his way to work. Every night I drive 80 minutes home, thinking about nothing at all.

We’re only a few years removed from creatjng a vaccine to protect against a deadly airborne virus in a matter of months. Now, we have a scion fail son running the CDC into the ground not because it failed, but because its success conflicts with RFK Jr’s eugenicist ideology.
9 CDC Directors going back to 1977 speak out. What RFK Jr has done to our nation’s public health system "should alarm every American."

It "is unlike anything we have ever seen at the agency, and unlike anything our country has ever experienced." www.nytimes.com/2025/09/01/o...

Parents, teachers, students should be outraged that their right to an excellent education is being exchanged for this slop.
To gauge how it’s “working,” one would have to be clear on what the actual work is, which is not helping to educate children but rather to imbed these systems in a way that they cannot be removed, establish them as a source of truth, and destabilize labor.

Educators across the country are bringing chatbots into their lesson plans. Will it help kids learn or is it just another doomed ed-tech fad?

What these Schatz posts say to me is that Dem elected officials like him seem incapable of perceiving the right as a *political movement.* The response to Covid mitigation and the Floyd protests was not a spontaneous reaction...it was a right wing backlash organized by a reactionary movement.
I've never seen such a disconnect between Dem elected/staff/consultants and actual Dem voters.

The latter understand what's going on.

The former are awash in right-wing brainrot, hence @schatz.bsky.social blaming COVID mitigation and BLM marches for the GOP's wanton destruction of public health.

no matter your politics it’s disrespectful to joke about someone’s death. don’t say rudy giuliani died from driving his car into a wall painted to look like a tunnel and all his clothes flew off in the crash and then a sixteen wheeler semi truck ran over his dick and balls. don’t say stuff like that

Because, but their definition of “tyranny,” it isn’t tyrannical.

Cowie’s Freedom’s Dominion should be one of those everyone-must-read books.

To some ppl, freedom = freedom FROM oppression.

For others (like MAGA), freedom = freedom TO oppress.

There’s nothing hypocritical here.
As a friend recently put it: the venn diagram of people who assured us the gun violence was worth it because we need the guns to protect ourselves against a tyrannical federal government and the people cheering on Trump as he deploys the military to take over American cities is a circle
Q: Would you welcome federal resources going into a part of South Carolina with a high crime rate?

at their core, trans rights, abortion rights, and vaccine rights are actually all the same issue: they’re all about bodily autonomy, and the willingness to concede any of them puts the others at risk.
I’ve seen a lot of cishet allies who are also confused by all the prominent Dem voices suddenly acting like having trans rights means we can’t also have vaccines and schools and national parks, and that’s because some of the “why” is happening at a pitch only queer and trans people can hear
