Kind of wild there has been almost no coverage of the fact that the federal government unleashed chemical weapons against literal kids *at school*.

We are witnessing a sea-change in the form of state power. Trump is ushering in a dissolution of the postcolonial world order of nation-states.

But it isn't a simple resurrection of imperial states. It is new: the anti-migrant politics of nation-states + "indirect" colonization. Seatbelts required
The weak response from Can, EU and UN to Trump's flagrant crimes in Venezuela is striking.

It exposes that much of the world has been cowed.

Most notable exception: the Latin American left.

That is why the Trump Admin has gone to enormous lengths to defeat the left across the continent. 1/3

On the day we see the US regime reviving the Monroe Doctrine, it's worth remembering also it'd be CLR James 125 birthday; it's also worth revisiting his 1986 discussion with Stuart Hall. How the world as changed that this was on broadcast TV #anti-imperialism

This is why I bang on about the necessity to look beyond Farage's past if we are to turn the tide around

Far-right politics and moral panics are mainstream

Anything short of seriously looking at the role of the mainstream in mainstreaming is just pretending to care to make one feel better
So the Home Office, which is responsible for the welfare of asylum seekers & for determining their claims, has decided to call them “illegal migrants” & tell everyone it’s “furious” about them being here, but I’m sure this is fine and not a symptom of a culture of disbelief & gratuitous cruelty
