Rest assured, Bielski the cat is watching guard over me constantly. Since I got sick he hasn't left my side. He escorts me to the bathroom. He sleeps beside me. If I start moving around too much he stands on me till I stop.

He's a good comrade.

I'm having a very hard time this week

Everyone is, really

I'm worried I'll have to go to the hospital for an infection because I am on a medication that suppresses my immune system

The medication does not even adequately control my symptoms!

I'm feeling sorry for myself and watching TV in bed

Yes, the underlying reason for the need for this is horrifying, stipulated, but watching so many people stand up and defend their neighbors and their community is a heartening reminder that the people who suck are not the majority even if they are the power

Was just at a neighborhood school at dismissal. Hundreds of people with whistles surrounding the school and stationed down every block making sure ICE doesn’t snatch anyone. The same is happening at all the schools around here. I love my neighborhood and I love Chicago.

While this is going on here, ICE has been spotted on foot + in vehicles across SW + NW sides of Chicago. Can't verify reports rn, but also presuming suburbs. Yesterday was brutal. It's not lost on us they have more agents free for weekend kidnappings now with their facility secured by state police.

she has been sentenced to years is prison for being transgender in a a country which has, for about half of her entire life, been harassing and abusing transgender people daily in the press and politics.

Folks don’t always get that protests preoccupy law enforcement that suppress the protests. Those folks in Broadview are getting gassed, beaten and arrested in lieu of immigrants getting the same treatment. They’ve mounted a heroic struggle to protect our people.

Two things about fascism I didn't really grasp until it became our reality:

1) it's not all-or-nothing. You can have more or less fascism. (Which means even though that's where we are, we can still push back, resist, make many things less bad for many people.
