IT DIDN'T GET JINXED

My new retro purchase is this arcade cabinet which formerly stood in an Arbroath pub. The 1942 arcade PCB was included.

I spent a good part of yesterday making space and shuffling things around for it.

Nvidia invests in OpenAI, OpenAI rents compute from Oracle, Oracle buys Nvidia’s hardware, and Nvidia records huge sales.

Everyone in the circle reports rising revenue, rising valuations, and surging share prices, but the cash is largely moving in circles.

Reminder that Mount Rushmore was designed by a white supremacist and literal Klansman as a deliberate desecration of a site sacred to multiple Indigenous nations. Imagine if a Klansman blew up St. Peter's Basilica or the Western Wall and built a statue of Trump instead. That's what Rushmore is.
Blimey!

That's excellent \o/

Was stunned when I saw one here in Dundee in our first place, but that was much closer to Dundee Law and Balgay Park in the other direction. Ended up seeing it a few times, hope you do too.

Just saw a fox. I was putting the bin out before bed & it was sitting on the pavement fairly near the front door. (far enough away to feel safe) Waited for me to go & get my phone then let me take pics, then backed off when I put the bin out, but came back when I went back in. @retroid.bsky.social

Looks like a pic from the soon to be filmed Knives Out prequel with a young Benoit Blanc participating in an exchange program in Paris.
This photo accompanying a news story about the heist at the Louvre is perfection.

shocked to learn that the president lied about this and also this is a horrible defacing of a building that belongs to the people of the United States, not donald trump
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

These folks have plainly joined the Dark Side (while trying to hide it under a cloak of sweet reasonableness). Also: you CAN refuse every project that uses generative AI. It's called "choosing a side." (And if we're playing with idioms: it's easy to wind up with too much nose and not enough face...)
A kind reminder to be careful what you submit to and avoid this “talent agency” called Right Voice Casting.

This is vile, not only because of the idea (no LLM can know what I want) but also because of the cavalier attitudes to patients' wishes in general here.
“For more than a decade, researchers have wondered whether artificial intelligence could help predict what incapacitated patients might want when doctors must make life-or-death decisions on their behalf.”
Should an AI copy of you help decide if you live or die?
Doctors share top concerns of AI surrogates aiding life-or-death decisions.
