The levels of rage I’m feeling as a goddam parent & Tangata Tiriti.

This gov & everyone in it are a bunch of vandals. Every curriculum change takes a mountain of work but this one’s a travesty. #NZPol
Is this a done deal? Is this reversible? The poor teachers, the students, our young people 😔
They wanna teach our children racist lies
The Te Tiriti content (which isn't introduced until Year 4) implies the English text was signed in Feb 1840, that the Māori text is a "translation", and that Te Tiriti was primarily a response to the Musket Wars. This is all nonsense.

Re the NZ Curriculum... "It’s recolonisation disguised as reform." Was seriously thinking about renewing my teaching certificate... Absolutely not happening now. #NZPol

Holy shit.
Conservative resistance to the Nazis. Lmao. Have a look at how Hitler was treated for the beer hall putsch, wet bus ticket from a conservative judge. And how he got the chancellor gig and who thought they could control him and use him to crush the left
The glaring omission of unionist, socialist and communist resistance to Nazi Germany is troubling. The reasons for their resistance and the targeting of these groups was part of the foundation of the Nazi project, to ignore that speaks volumes about the intention of this curriculum!

This is blatant political interference in rge New Zealand Curriculum that shouldn't be tolerated.
Education professionals should be deciding what is in the NZ Curriculum, not politicians from 8% parties pandering to the worst of NZ society to the detriment of our students.

Hell yeah
Some good news!

“Boston City Council has voted unanimously to ban its government from using facial recognition technology, including the police department, making it the largest city on the East Coast to do so.”

The new Social studies curriculum is atrocious in general, but I just want to shine a spotlight on the explicit retreading of literal Nazi propaganda that is woven through the year 10 content! Buckle up this shit is shocking!

We have *got* to vote this government out before they cause *even more* harm to our tamariki.

I'm reading the new Social Sciences curriculum content and I wasn't prepared for how sad I would feel. We spent thousands of hours working with the previous iteration and the NZ history content and all that enthusiasm and excitement was just killed for something so bad.

We fondly call some of our ex prime ministers aunty Helen and aunty Jacinda

In fact I have a wee tale. My BFF was at the Silver Scrolls & met Jacinda, she asked for an autograph "could it please say 'from aunty Jacinda'?" and this request was greeted with a huge smile & a nod #NZPol
Strangers call me Whaea/Aunty as a sign of respect. It’s an honorific.

They are not lying. #uspol

NZ Agribusiness disrupts all efforts to cut climate pollution, meaning more disruption for food production from extreme weather in the future. NZ Fishing Companies target spawning events to catch quota, which means fewer fish in the future. These industries need public oversight not self-regulation.
