don't forget this date. carve it into your memory. remember what here inaugurated this decade of violence and the unfinished struggle for justice. don't let them think they can exist comfortably
not since this year, really since May 25, 2020, and before

The detention of witnesses and seizure of their phones is an extraordinary violation of every fucking Amendment you can name:

Why are witnesses in federal detention?
The StarTribune live blog is paywall free:
- The man shot by federal agents this morning has died
- Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building.
- ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

This was all on video by the way, up to when the Minneapolis cops put Castile's fiancé in handcuffs for daring to bear witness. The most contemporary struggle for Black lives started in 2012, with the murder of Trayvon Martin. It took nearly a decade to get one Minneapolis cop put in jail for murder
Minneapolis police confirm that the man was lawfully carrying a gun. Philando Castile was murdered by Minneapolis police ten years ago for the same reason.

I teach my students that after 1830, building a barricade becomes a revolutionary statement, whether or not there is any tactical benefit to blocking off the road.
People are definitely setting up a barricade of trash cans and this couch, in the middle of the street where ICE is.

"That's my couch," said a woman standing nearby. "It's been on my porch for four years because it won't fit up the stairs. My neighbor will be pleased it's gone now."

it's overwhelming to witness such brutality and such bravery in the same instance. I've been in radical movements since I was 15 years old. I've never seen anything like I've seen in the last few weeks
Minneapolis protester as he's being brutalized by feds: "You're gonna have to kill me! You're gonna have to kill me! I've done nothing wrong! My name is Matthew James! I'm a US citizen! You're gonna kill me! Is that what you want?" (You can hear his wife screaming)

OMG. "DHS said the episode began after a man approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and they tried to disarm him. But footage from the scene shows the man was holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when federal agents took him to the ground and shot him." www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

They're promising prosecutions that will never come if left to their own devices to try and pacify us. We need to force their hand, no savior from on high delivers

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.
