I'm not saying that being a total goofball at an antifascist protest will make ladies' panties fly off, I'm just saying, CONSIDER THE EVIDENCE

Portland's famous Unipiper was spotted at the Portland ICE protest where he played his bagpipes in front of Santa, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and more -- all while surrounded by bubbles.

My latest: "Numerous studies show that majors in the humanities—typically, in departments of English, history, philosophy, religious studies, classics and languages—lead students to employment and life satisfaction outcomes as positive as those for majors traditionally championed as 'practical.'”
Counterpoint | Minnesota humanities graduates thrive in meaningful careers
"The stereotype of the underemployed history major is simply not true," professor Andrea Kaston Tange writes.

Thinking about that sequence in Andor where everyone in town begins ringing bells and banging on things to create an incredibly hostile inescapable environment for the invading forces, a technique inspired by the real life history of people in Ireland doing something similar with trash cans.

(The wild part is you'll never guess WHY. I needed to figure out if a folding umbrella I want will fit diagonally in a purse. Apologies to my 9th grade math teacher whose name I don't remember for saying I'd never need this shit)

Is life often terrible? Yes.
Are there still always people out there going “Let’s make a cool ass thing for other people to see?” Also yes.

Just a reminder that Wikipedia is the only remaining reliable source of information that right wing billionaires can't control. (Although they'll never stop trying.)

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Fun fact about the Salvation Army: they use a form of substance use treatment called work therapy. Oh, and by treatment, I mean they have people who have been convicted of drug charges work for their stores & warehouses in exchange for room, board, around a $1 a week, and minimal actual therapy.

The EU-Commission wants to negotiate a very sensitive agreement that would allow US authorities direct (!) access to police-stored fingerprints & facial images in Europe.
Potentially, all travelers could be affected by this #EBSP – and people in need for protection.

Mr Sri Lanka. This is a rare case where I think the outfit would be better without the giant gold snakes around his head. Maybe add a cape, but I think the rest of the outfit (what little of it there is) is so great that he doesn't need the snakes.

Mr India is also following the standard of previous Mr India's in the contest of just wearing something traditional and immaculate and I think this is possibly my favourite traditional look of the year. It's just breathtakingly gorgeous.

Mr Poland shows us that not *everyone* in Europe fucked it badly this year. It's not the most thrilling look but it is clean, well done and interesting. If only the rest of Europe had taken note (and believe me, we're not done on that front yet...)
