I'm making a versus physics puzzler called Color Capsules! It's a multiplayer game in the style of Suika Game with a focus on knocking things around and unlockable cosmetics

“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

i think it's useful to look at areas where the *tech* has gotten much better while tech *interactions* have gotten way worse. streaming has gotten worse, google search has gotten worse, digital cameras are leaps better. apple's silicone is so good it's threatening their user upgrade cycle
it’s so weird to look around and realize like, tech and media are materially worse than a decade ago

i realized my main problem with overusage of AI is that the world is chock full of sights and sounds and smells and tactile sensations and people are choosing to ignore it or downplay it. you were born and there was already a millenia of art for you to look at. enough that you can't see it all

my hot take on video games is that they don't need to (and shouldn't) always strive to be "fun". it's ok for games to have some friction and evoke negative emotions. something with highs and lows is more memorable and impactful than something uniform the whole way through.

I do not understand why software developers hate what they do so much, beautiful well written deterministic code is lovely, it’s art in many ways, why are you all relying on a random stochastic system to do what i assume you once enjoyed, are you just that capitalism pilled.

Gotta love how lives are being wrecked, industries are being stripmined, and the world is being torched, just so a few warped executives can tug their milky little twiglets over the impossible fantasy of a world where products are made for free and sold for thousands to unemployed people.

as a software developer i'm watching LLMs stripmine the field that I love. I'm watching all my coworkers trade creative connection with their peers for the instant responses of a chatbot, and the clarity and purpose of documentation and design for (temporary! destructive!) speed.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

Silicon Valley wants to believe in science fiction so badly that a cohort of people actually view these systems as real-life, highly knowledgeable "superintelligences" that occasionally make mistakes—attributing intent, understanding, and anthropomorphic traits where none exist. LLMs do not think!

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.
