There’s no edit button because if there was I would tweet compliments to bad politicians and when they reposted I’d change it to say “[politician] eats doo-doo flavored cereal for breakfast” hope this explains

Car manufacturers need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel with door handles.

Got into a Lexus just now that has what seems to be the usual handle but there's some kind of sensor on it, and I missed the sensor and pulled so hard on it because I thought it was just frozen.

I hope at least that all of this convinces people you can have hate speech laws without worrying about free speech. If your government really wants to, they'll take away your free speech with or without having hate speech laws to twist and abuse.

cool economic system we’ve got here, where the people who have all of the money and none of the brains generally get to determine everything about the rest of our lives

To train a model from scratch you need millions of $ and tens of employees.

You also need terabytes of training data. No way to source that "ethically". You need stolen shit!

To train a a proper AI model at home on an RTX 5090 you need to run it 24/7 for 317 years. That uses 1.5GW of power.

"Ethical AI" does not exist. There is no reality where you can have generative AI that's "ethically trained". There are ZERO AI models trained ethically, and there will never be any.

The term has been made up by people who want a pass on using AI. You don't get that pass, slop peddlers.

"Our standing rule is: If one of us brings up using GenAI in any of our work, then it's safe to assume we've been assimilated by The Thing and should be burned alive by Kurt Russell," said a game design consultant in the US.
Over 50% of game developers now think generative AI is bad for the industry, a dramatic increase from just 2 years ago: 'I'd rather quit the industry than use generative AI'
The latest GDC survey also found that managers are more likely to use generative AI than their employees.

Darren Aranofsky's new project is AI slop, but what do you expect him to do? Satoshi Kon tragically passed away in 2010, so Aranofsky has long been lacking in an actual artist to steal from

My work has been in museums both last year and this year. I was a lead on a GOTY this year.

I’ve also been laid off for almost a year now with no end in sight.
Overall: 28% laid off in the last 2 years
US: 33%
Design/narrative: 20% in the last 12mo (most impacted discipline)

48% said they haven't found a new job, and the survey admits these numbers are likely an undercount.

Fun fact: the survey would boot you out if you'd been out of work >2 years.
More than a quarter of developers surveyed by GDC say they were laid off in the last 24 months, and around half of them say they haven't found a new job yet.
