Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

We should all be furious that GenAI has taken from us the simple joy of looking at and appreciating art without suspicion that it was churned out by a slop machine. Even if it falls out of fashion, that human connection we have is forever changed. We should be livid.
You wanna know what Gen-AI has done for me?
It's made my hobbies slow & miserable
Everytime I see something new I have to look closely & judge it
"Is this AI?" Sometimes it's easy to spot, other times I won't know for sure & have to ask around/research when I shouldn't need to
