very grimly ironic that our government run by podcasters sucks at true crime
Gotta say it's mindblowing to me that the Brown shooter is still at large and they don't even seem to have identified who they're looking for.

Nothing is known yet about the shooter's motive or political beliefs.

This hasn't stopped conservative influencers from blaming the Brown University shooting on a “leftist activist.”

Fascinating thread. Why is this breaking through when so much hasn't? I think it's 2 things. 1) Never underestimate the emotional intensity of people's relationships to entertainment figures. And 2) How to behave when someone is murdered is the simplest, lowest-bar character test in all of politics.

The US continues to lose manufacturing jobs—payrolls are down 81k over the last year, & another 5k jobs were lost in November

Transportation (especially auto manufacturing), wood & electronics/electrical manufacturing are the biggest losers, but few subsectors are doing well

Payrolls fell -105k in October and rose +64k in November. August and September payrolls were also revised down a total of 33k.

These data suggest VIRTUALLY NO EMPLOYMENT GROWTH since April ("Liberation day").

Unemployment is now up to 4.6%.

This is a tricky report, so stay tuned.

Important to remember:

1) the amount in a lawsuit claim is meaningless. The court decides any damages;

2) The BBC did nothing wrong or defamatory. Its show accurately recounted his seditious speech. They erred in correcting it, and he has no case.

Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

The problem with all arguments of this sort is that they effectively rewrite the statute to exclude critical limitations. If a statute says "the president may do X on condition Y," but no court may second guess a presidential determination that Y obtains (even if it plainly does not)...
