Many other conservative futurists act this way in reference to Richard Feynman and a few other titans of mid-century physics. And it’s obnoxious when they do it too.

But to treat Isaac Asimov as a scientific god-among-men?

…Dude, this is just so embarrassing for you.

It's usually framed as middle aged white men being particularly adept (evidence: look how few women or black and brown people work here!).

And that's the irony: if these clowns *had* taken a gender studies class, they wouldn't now be in the Epstein files or being MeToo-ed more generally.

What's so amazing about Jim Henson as a puppeteer is that he could literally be explaining that Kermit is made out of felt and ping pong balls and yet Kermit still feels alive the whole time he's doing it

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.

Every time I see "AI" being crammed into another consumer product I think of how in the 50s we put radium in suppositories because "the atom" was the snakeoil hype of the moment

An interesting thread.
Something from class yesterday: we were listening to the basslines in "Dear Prudence" and "Billie Jean" and the difference in timekeeping abilities between the Beatles and Michael Jackson's session guys jumped right out of the speakers.

Fatherhood is baseline pretty great, but then your kids start singing "once in a lifetime" *with you* in the car, or singing a rabbit-centric version to the family pet when youre not around, and thats just next level lovely.

I made a little comic celebrating something nice in the world that my family loves. It can also serve as a recommendation for those of you who are (or are considering becoming) parents. Finding joy where you can is a survival skill in bizarre and awful times. I ‘ll fix the typos (I just noticed!)
