The effort to expand private school vouchers in Mississippi using public funds is dead after the Republican-led Mississippi Senate Education Committee unanimously voted to kill it.

It was a major priority for Mississippi House Speaker Jason White, whose chamber narrowly passed it last month.

Just so we’re clear: the GOP wants so badly for you to believe their promise that vouchers won’t take state funding from your public school…

…that they want to take even more funding from your public school when it sues because of lost funding in the first place

More video of stops where federal agents aim pistols at people.

I spend a considerable amount of time at the shooting range. And I'm a stickler for safety procedures. You only aim at a target you're willing to shoot. Basic NRA rules.
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

If you're response to people calling these "concentation camps" is that they are no different than prisons, that's exactly what makes them concentration camps. Prisons are for people who have received the procedural protections of criminal law and been sentenced, not civil detainees.
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.

This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people.

Radley is so on the mark zeroing in on this: the creation of new "privacy" rights for federal police. The right to be anonymous to the public. The right not to have anyone know why they shot someone and tried to hide the evidence. "right to privacy" fascism addition.
Federal agents cornered Marimar Martinez, shot her several times, boasted about it, arrested her, lied about her to the public and in the police report, and falsely charged her with assaulting them.

Now the government wants to keep evidence of their lies secret to protect these agents' "privacy."
DeWald cites "privacy interests" for an "agent number 3" and his body worn camera as one of the govt's concerns over making the case material piblic, among other issues.

After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

Giving them more training won't make them more peaceful.

It'll just make their brutalization more polished and effective.
The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal
