Stories of people becoming Irish citizens only ever fill me with pride that they think we are a decent enough country to want to become part of us. As is right, the settlement of Ireland has always been a story of folk coming & going, it's what has made us.

After a long stop-and-start history of higher ed - drop out, mediocre results, finally success via distance & small classes - here I am yrs overdue finally finishing PhD with my autism dx still in a drawer & no notion of registering with access office. Sure I'm grand... (history suggests otherwise).
I once talked to a student who self-described as having a "mild" ADHD diagnosis about why they hadn't sought accommodations. The literal first thing that they said was "I'm not ADHD enough to need them," which was something that I've kept in mind as I listen to this "discourse" about accommodations.

Woke up exhausted after a whole night of those dreams where one has to do slightly stressy yet utterly mundane tasks like laundry and tax returns and being in a queue in a German store except it was all set in a dark and twisted Jim Henson universe. I need so much coffee now.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That wanders high o'er hill and coomb
When all at once I saw a crowd
A host of dull and grey mushrooms
Bethought myself, what if combined
The lowly fungus and lofty vapour
A towering mushroom shape defined
When atoms split against their nature.

Worth a try.

Finally the research has been published to prove that wild cat (Felis silvestris) lived in Ireland 5,500 years ago. Many claims over the years but the backup genetics was needed and a good number of bones have been recovered to provide enough material www.rte.ie/news/munster...

I was wearing hiviz the day a pedestrian stepped off the footbath without looking, the T-ruler he was carrying jammed into my bike spokes tipping me over the handlebars and cms from the tyres of a Dublin Bus. Closest I've come to death. Segregated bike paths, please.
👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.

The thing is we've known that housing the homeless is cheaper than neglect, we've known that Ubi is effective at eliminating poverty, we've known that heavily subsidized housing and education leads people into the middle class, we've known all of these things in some cases for 70 years.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
