this is a tacit admission that the administration is not confident in the legal arguments it would have to make in order to detain them, which should also cast into question the legality of the operation in the first place
Those men are super dangerous drug smuggling terrorists, which is why . . . we are letting them go.

Land of 10,000 Lakes and No Kings ❌👑
This was a great event - very well organized, and a nice day to be out with a lot of very enthusiastic people.
Morristown NJ! 10-12 thousand people chanting NO KINGS! ❌👑 @indivisible.org

A crime so bad you need not prove it in a court of law! Your punishment? Death or a very stern warning before going home.

It boggles the legal mind. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/u...

Spoke at the No Kings rally in Atlanta this morning. It's inspiring to see so many across our state coming together to use their voices and exercise their American right to peaceful assembly. We create the context for change.

Why does the US DOT even have a social media “rapid response team”?

Why are we paying people (during a shutdown!) to post lame politicized memes from an agency responsible for making sure the highways work?
This is what the Department of Transportation is tweeting out today.

DEAN: What's the tariff on bananas?

LUTNICK: Generally 10%

DEAN: Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8%

LUTNICK: If you build in America, there is no tariff

DEAN: We cannot build bananas in America

On the one hand, it makes sense, because the Trump admin has no legal basis for detaining them, not least because the blew up the supposed evidence.

But on the other hand it just underscores how illegal the entire operation is, it's nothing more than murder on the high seas to generate content.
So dangerous that they must be blown into small pieces rather than arrested … unless they are actually captured in which case they may go home with a warning. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/u...

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

the money you used to give to the New York Times and Washington Post should be going to ProPublica
Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

Instead of working with Democrats to extend tax credits that make healthcare more affordable for millions of Americans (and that the majority of Americans support extending), Republicans would rather shut down the government for 18 days and do nothing. 🤔

Welcome to the largest day of peaceful protest we’ve ever seen in our lifetimes.

Today, we’re gonna speak out on a grander scale than Trump has ever seen. No Kings Day is going to be big, loud, boisterous, and joyful. Find your local event and let’s make history: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE #NoKings

Our nation's Smithsonians have officially run out of funding and are now closed until the government re-opens.

Important thread. They’ve been lying all along, and very directly. Changing license plates, charging activists who keep lists of vehicles and plates in order to be able to confirm ICE presence with “doxxing” and “threatening” agents, attacking and arresting activists operating well within the law…
Important: Sen Chris Murphy just sent pointed questions to Kristi Noem about DHS's account of shooting of US citizen by Trump's paramilitary forces in Chicago. The official line is imploding. Murphy wants Noem to explain why DHS misled. More like this, Ds.

"The shamelessness of getting her sister on set by week two is just, wow," one senior CBS News staffer told me.
