It's been a few weeks since I mailed chapter one so I feel like I can safely post process pics/excerpts from vol.1 of the '26 zine without thoroughly spoiling it. Thanks for experimenting with me~! Really thoroughly charmed by how encouraging everyone's been.

Meat fattens on winter's bone as brome grass swells to fill the meadow. Here is the time for the birds to flutter in their bowers, and for good animals to be led to each other, and for all seed to be laid. Let every window be opened. Let every sheet be turned. Let the daylight come back into the places that forgot it and lie about on the sills and on the floors like the great red banded tom I knew he, Naius, loved.
Naturally, this is the customary time when men such as we must travel.
So it was that in that season, he and I put on our good clothes—he in his robe and fine scapular too care-fully made for walking in, and I with the sword I was told his brother had wished on his deathbed would be mine—, and set off on horses gifted to the abbot with the intention that he would hand them to down us for this very purpose.
Do you know how long the road to Domehrin is? No, neither do I. As any man in my place should do, I have studied the way to Hrotir and could stand before you and recite the twelve stations that sit between the abbey yard and the old heart of the world. But what of those holy places? Those way-markers? Those martyr stones? What of the stripling trees grown only to be shorn in kindly service to their shrines? the fucking “AI makes art accessible to everyone” argument makes me nuts because art is already accessible to everyone and what you want is bespoke detailed art of your own design. which is great to have but isn’t a life necessity. so like maybe don’t equate it with people shoplifting food

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

I may delete this because it’s a bit spicy but it shouldn’t be lost on us that games being turned into TV is essentially harvesting the stories written by those who don’t have union representation or healthcare with WGA by those that do. Our stories are good enough for TV but the writers aren’t?
