I guarantee that Green Party leader Zack Polanski speaks for a hell of a lot more Brits than Starmer does when it comes to Donald Trump's shopping list of invasions and brutality.
Darren Jones saying repeatedly the Labour Government won't comment on a hypothetical.

It's not hypothetical - Trump is saying very loudly repeatedly what he's done and boasting about it.

And yet the UK Government won't even say it's a breach of international rules. Shameful.

Parker's piece nails why this matters. "Tech companies... would rather not answer for their products’ failures. Every headline that says “Grok apologizes” or “Grok admits” or “Grok says” creates a world where the chatbot takes the fall while Musk and his executives face no scrutiny whatsoever."

There is really a 1:1 venn circle overlap between the "don't focus on fossil supply, just focus on demand" guys and the "AI data centre growth providing new demand for fossil fuels is a nothingburger, stop being hysterical" guys

In some other universe this would come across as hypocritical 🫠
A ridiculous attendee list for this AI / energy meeting. There is no longer any space between big tech and the fossil fuel industry - they're blended into one single entity now.

Both faced with the anxiety of looming demand collapse, both keeping each other alive

“If a woman dares to show herself in public in any way, then she can and will be sexually harassed with the aid of genAI-driven tools that can easily turn her face into highly realistic pornography” is an absolute red-alarm human rights disaster
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

Five days into the Government's 'strong start to January.' Day 1 blame the voters. Day 2, blame the civil service. Days 3-5, ignore international law.

Voters & civil service didn't make a Labour government cut winter fuel payments & refuse a wealth tax.

i think those of us who do clean energy work hate AI especially because we are aware how we’re fucking up our climate goals for the most useless slop, almost zero positive outcomes for humans

adapting to a changing climate was hard enough without demand for thousands of new data centers

The past two years I've had health problems in the past 2 summers due to the heat. I have to constantly monitor my elderly cat to keep him cool. It is obscene to be ignoring this. So many people will die, our lives will be so much worse. All due to billionaires' greed. AI is ruining us.
people just can’t and won’t grasp what a 4 degree temperature increase by 2100 means and the scale of death and destruction we are up against

Hey isn't it weird that Chevron, who has diminishing oil supplies in California, also happens to own refineries in California more or less tailor-made for this particular type of shitty oil? And they are threatening to close the refineries and cause the price of gas to skyrocket?

Haha, weird!
The real kicker here is that if US companies do succeed in ramping up Venezuela’s oil, it’s some of the dirtiest and most carbon intensive in the world. And it’s cheap to produce (PdVSA says $5/barrel, probably closer to $25).
