I had to persist. Before me, Keith Porter’s cousin, Jsané, had movingly spoken about the need for accountability for his murder at the hands of LAPD. I kept speaking for the people of Los Angeles, and the room stood with me. (2/3)

You cannot claim to be restructuring city government while silencing the voices of the people. As I began to speak to the charter commission tonight on its stalled police accountability reforms, they cut the mic.

Watch the moment the Commission chose bureaucracy over the community. (1/3)

Institutions of power will always choose optics over ethics, but this is shameless to the point of being insulting. It's time we put the power back in the hands of the people.

The reduction of crime in Baltimore is one of the most inspiring stories of the last few years, and it’s largely thanks to nonviolent, neighborhood level community intervention. We’re seeing similar programs be extremely effective in neighborhoods in Chicago too.
Baltimore's crime rate has dropped dramatically under Moore. The homicide rate last year was a 50-year low.

In 2018, after Musk infamously claimed that he had the funding to take Tesla private, his PR consultant went to Jeffrey Epstein for help convincing the Saudis to put up the cash he didn't actually have. Epstein also strategized on press coverage of Musk and recommended names for Tesla's board.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Just want to point out, while everyone's being horrified, that this is a fairly normal email you'd see in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department
Hours after Border Patrol agent Charles Exum shot Marimar Martinez five times, Gregory Bovino emailed him to ask he continue working past retirement:

"In light of your excellent service in Chicago, you have much yet left to do!!" he wrote.

To repeat.

And to repeat:

The political faction saying we must all have to log legal ID before speaking or accessing speech on the Internet,

and the political faction who believe transgenderism is a dangerous mental contagion that spreads by speech about transgenderism,

are the same faction.
Age verification is deanonymization,
Deanonymization is censorship.

The Supreme Court is now taking away your right to anonymously *read* a form of speech. If speaking can mean that your readers have to subject themselves to potential consequences to read it, how can there be freedom of speech?
NEW: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court held that age verification for explicit sites is constitutional. The majority said it protects minors without violating free speech; dissenters warned it burdens adults’ rights and ignores First Amendment precedent.

Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.
