Federal Agents Deploy Tear Gas In Albany Park as Neighbors Block Immigration Arrest

It is the latest use of chemical irritants deployed by agents in neighborhoods. The incident was also the latest example of increased neighbor resistance to immigration enforcement in Chicago.

I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

These guys are absolutely going to shoot more people.

They’ve already killed one man, shot a woman, and we’ve seen a pattern of pulling firearms on unarmed people doing nothing violent or illegal over the past few weeks.

Clearly they do not care at all about the temporary restraining orders.

Not only does this add another layer of protest & free speech repression at Broadview but it also protects the identities & vehicles of ICE, CBP, & DHS agents who use the 25th & Harvard driveway as a primary entry / exit point for abduction operations. ISP specifically threatened chem weapons last night, where prev it had only been arrest. The # of ISP with pepper ball guns increased by 300%, one had a rubber bullet gun, & several had pepper spray cans. At one point, a tear gas canister fell on the ground but didn’t detonate.

Quick update on what we just saw here—*before curfew*, ISP troopers, Broadview PD and CCSO deputies began menacing demonstrators outside the ICE facility. Several arrests.

Pepper ball guns at the ready, a bit of a standoff going with remaining protesters. All people are doing is playing music.
