This duology is fantastic reading for anyone who loved the edgy Gold Medal crime fiction of the 1950s and 1960s.

Coy Hall brilliantly shares with us the journey of Royce Pembrook, who you might applaud in Séance. But you may be horrified of by Switchblade.

No hero. Just a survivor.
My crime novels. A Seance for Wicked King Death is set in 1956 and The Switchblade Svengali is set in 1968. Both feature conman Royce Pembrook, who dabbles in seances and occasionally kills.

The problem is not having ideas. The problem is that billionaires, are sitting like dragons on gold, on the stolen wealth of ordinary people's efforts - leaving them no time or energy to sit, work through, refine, and implement their ideas into books, music, film, and visual art.

So, obviously everyone's clowning on this article, which I will not post (they love hate clicks more than anything, don't fall for it), but here's my question: Who's "we"?

Ideas--even good ideas--are cheap. I already have more ideas for books than I will ever be able to write.

Finished Slay the Princess yesterday. What a trip! I was really hooked by the tons of ideas and how it was each time freshly depicted and artistic liberties that come with!
(Also a big fan of time loop and "same but different scenarios" here so I really appreciated.)

six a.m. awake since four. the rain drums on the windows, drowning the occasional bus attempting to ford the flooded streets.

the rain is thick as mist. what buildings I can see in the distance are as giants, their darkened eyes blind to my stare.
I'm reminded of the sea.

This is the wave that swept up my book The Breakaways, and it was pissing me off because it felt like such a blatantly fake misdirection for organizing resources. But it's a canary in the coal mine, right? So keep banging the drum to protect books, but bang the bigger drum to protect communities.

i'm still writting but is harder to focus and I don't feel as motivated.

partly is the cold and very short days bringing down the mood, the other is that all my stuff has been severely slowed down for some reason or another.

hoping 2026 has more publication opportunities.

"Has muslims, thumbs down" is now just written on the Steam page for Little Rocket Lab, and I cannot remove it. Anyone coming in to look at our game will rightly just think "What the fuck?", and there's nothing I can do.
