This just reminded me of the related phenomenon where we live surrounded by things influenced by an original thing, but they have often just chosen a few parts to repeat over and over.

I am unwilling to discuss how recently I discovered that epitome does not rhyme with epi-Rome, and is not the sister of a different word that presumably ends in a Y.
