In Massachusetts it’s illegal to idle your car for longer than five minutes. This is because car exhaust pollutes, harms lungs, brains and hearts, and fills the air when a car stands still

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

The fact that these programs work is amazing, but at the same time infuriating, because they'll never be adopted at scale. Instead, politicians will cower to assholes jealously complaining that someone got help "but didn't deserve it," and we'll keep doing this dance over and over again.

I want you to understand that while news media and politicians were fearmongering every day about shoplifting in SF (while property crime was *down*), THIS was happening: "the inhalation of one-millionth of an ounce will cause cancer with a virtual 100% statistical certainty."

You’re never actually touching anything, not even right now 🤯✋

That push-back you feel isn’t contact, it’s electromagnetic repulsion: the force that keeps electrons in your hand from merging with electrons in anything you touch.

Your brain interprets that force as “touch,” but the atoms never meet

PSA! leaf litter on your lawn can house thousands of babies🧐 - some hoverfly babies (larvae) i spotted earlier today. (plus old hoverfly pic for info)
Don't put leaf litter in the bin- it's a precious, nutrient-filled habitat..Pile it up, compost it or just leave it... 😁🌿🍁🍂
