One of the things I need to write down my thoughts on at some point is how college in the US is set up to produce Werner von Brauns at an unfathomable scale. The brightest minds of several generations all working to make things Worse because that's where the interesting, profitable work is.
every college degree has only two pathways for careers

for example, if you get a degree in psychology, you can

1) help poor and underprivileged people: $30,000/year

2) research new ways to make people gamble even more: $700,000/year

I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

i feel like the next US presidency is up for grabs for any democratic politician with enough of a spine to push consistently for abolishing ICE. they select well for cowards though so don't bet on it

Okay, so first of all it doesn't count as Martial Law until the government start employing lawyers who have levels in a class with a full base attack bonus progression, so jot that down, you crazy leftist!

He wasn’t some guy that just signed up for the 50k that was doing some unrelated job a few months ago. This is a guy with experience across several federal agencies and the military. He shot Good because he wanted to and knew he had permission from his higher ups to treat anyone as a terrorist.
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social: "We have an ICE agent who should have been trained not to be in front of a vehicle and never to shoot into a moving vehicle, and yet this happened on [Kristi Noem's] watch. The whole POINT of Homeland Security is to make this country more stable and safe."

If I get shot in the fucking face by the Feds for watching them kidnap my neighbors, I want each and every one of you to riot in the streets screaming every cause we fight for at the top of your lungs
Update: I am informed that there was a DSA rally in which all possible other causes were dragged in, and a very left acquaintance said: Jeez, I’m leaving.

Sigh.

We should be able to have vigils that focus on this one event, not just for big tent reasons but out of respect for someone who has DIED.
Boston area people: is there a vigil or demonstration for Renee Good?

Also, how does one get on the mailing lists that tell you about such things without having to ask Bluesky? I only got here a few months ago, and I have not yet found them.

Some people are trying to correct me with something like "ICE isn't cops, real cops know the law and--"

And what? Don't kill people for minor to no offenses?

Wish I could say what the proper reaction to this is.
Noem accuses Renee Nicole Good of "an attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents -- an act of domestic terrorism."

I don't need a cargo bike.
I don't want a cargo bike.

But I love the cargo bike feed because it's all about joy: people finding something they feel makes their life so much better, so they want others to be happier too and to become part of their community.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a cult. 😆
This tracks, a totally unintended consequence of getting an e-cargo bike is that family errands on weekends are way less of a hassle, and dare I say fun!
E-cargo bikes sound pretty amazing in this new UK study:

"Parents’ and children’s enjoyment, curiosity, and sense of adventure encouraged additional travel, transforming routine journeys into playful and memorable family experiences."
