This is so true, it should be shouted at street corners:

Looking behind their "hypocrisy" we find their real motives: xenophobia, racism, thirst for oppression, supremacy of their group
Their values have never been “limited govt” or “don’t tread on me” or “gun rights for all.”

It’s always been about having the FREEDOM TO OPPRESS DISLIKED GROUPS (you know which ones, and their allies).

Every “inconsistency” is NOT INCONSISTENT with this.

If you’re Dems, please coalesce around Stephen Miller not having a job anymore.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

@stewartprest.ca: This is an unambiguous and flagrant violation of Canadian sovereignty.

It is going to get worse, and Canadians who wish to see the country remain intact need to respond.

Make no mistake — Trump’s America is coming for Alberta.

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

As JD Vance starts trying to play "nice Gestapo" to Steven Miller's "mean Gestapo," it's worth emphasizing that what's happening in Minnesota is a direct descendant of Vance's knowingly false racist demagoguery during the campaign. "Somalis are low-IQ thieves" is "Haitians are eating your pets."

A key part of the struggle against encroaching authoritarianism is to reject rather than perpetuate the Trumpist assertions of absolute power, to push back against the notion that resistance is futile – that MAGA is inevitably marching towards triumph.

Thread on important definitions when labeling immigrants as "illegal"
Things worth really hammering to any family and acquaintances whose reflexive attitude is “but we gotta enforce the law”:
(1) Lots of the folks being targeted came here legally; the administration has retroactively declared them “illegal” despite having done nothing wrong
Venezuelan family seeking asylum -- entered legally, both parents with college degrees -- took their 7-year-old to the ER for a nosebleed and fever. ICE, which is now targeting hospitals as well as churches schools, blocked the child from getting care and detained them instead

Do not fuck with “Minnesota Nice.”
If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.

Can’t underestimate its leadership importance.

Key line: “Middle powers must work together, because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.”

The best way I can think of to memorialize a noted online proponent of racism and authoritarianism and occasional cartoonist, Scott Adams. An essay written on the occasion of his self-proclaimed cancellation.

A Christian mom whose first name means “reborn” & whose surname name is “Good” forgiving her murderer seconds before being executed is the sort of thing that I’d probably regard as a sign if I were disposed to that sort of thing.
We joke about "the writers" being heavy handed, but that they murdered someone with THIS name is an especially big fuckup by an evil administration that needs to be able to control the messaging.
Online and on the streets, protesters are expressing their rage and grief at an ICE agent’s killing of Renee Nicole Macklin Good through art. “In a world full of Trumps and Noems, be Good,” read one protest sign.
