When the NEA asked us to promise not to publish trans, nonbinary, or gender fluid authors, we told them to kick rocks. (Actually, formally, with a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors, we told them to kick rocks.) So the NEA rescinded our funding.

Good thread.

And choosing not to sell on Amazon exacts a HUGE cost; I've mostly managed it (I couldn't keep our print-on-demand books off there) but god it's a pain in the tail, and I miss out entire revenue streams cause many people won't even consider buying books elsewhere.
I don't think we're going to have a successful Amazon boycott till we break their monopoly on indie books.

They have a clever strategy to build their monopoly, which any functional government would have banned: if you want your indie book listed in Kindle Unlimited, you have to be exclusive. 🧵

A Queer Ritual is such an exciting local music development in Minneapolis right now: heavy, communal, and wholly unapologetic, as only queer-centric shows can be

For @racketmn.com, I wrote about the first-ever AQR festival and spoke to @ruingazer.bsky.social about the evolution of the series
At A Queer Ritual, Bonds Are Built on Blood and Benefit Shows - Racket
With a two-day festival, the queer-focused heavy music series broadens the scope of its brutal catharsis.

#LRP it's so easy to make GOOD pecan pie with very few ingredients. yet you can also get fancier with it. add some bourbon to the filling, add maple to the whipped cream, add a layer of dark chocolate chips to the pie crust. guess I have to mute "pie" because this is a heathen's website.

PECAN PIE IS DIVISIVE BECAUSE NONE OF YOU PEOPLE MAKE IT CORRECTLY

STOP MAKING GIANT BLOBS. IT'S ABOUT THE PECANS! THE PECANS! GET YOU SOME MOLASSES. WHAT ARE Y'ALL DOING
I think Pecan Pie is one of those things that is divisive now because it’s just a blob of sugar with nuts on it but to someone 150 years ago who ate shoes it was probably like having 12 orgasms at once

a Wuthering Heights movie doesn't need to try to match the book's freak, which is an impossible task anyway. it needs to at least APPROACH the freak of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now."

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
