As predicted, the squalid fantasies of the architectural cliques are set to make a hames of a perfectly adequate feature of the Green which needs no "bold new look". The saving feature of modern replacements is that they won't last more than a few decades before deteriorating beyond salvation.

Escape Pod 1003: Billionaire’s Tears
I wake up to the sound of screaming, and know I’m going to die. I shoot out of bed, calling for my mother. First thing I’ve spoken clearly in two days. “Maria!” My mother bursts into my room. “Baby…

I'm not especially opposed to driverless cabs, but I'm fucked if I'm giving up my ancestral British right to cross the road anywhere if it's safe for me to do so. "Jaywalking" isn't a thing or a crime here, techbros, so your magic cars will have to learn to deal with that.
Politics London discussing driverless taxis casually referring to “jaywalking pedestrians”.

Jaywalking is not a thing in UK law.

Transport for London and Government had better not be asleep at the wheel on this.

LLMs do not understand, will not understand, and cannot ever understand information. It's a glorified search engine combined with auto-compete, and you should treat it as such. No matter how much LLM companies try to tell you their machines can think or reason, they cannot and will not.

There is zero evidence that their ban on puberty blockers has helped a single child and plenty of evidence that it has resulted in the deaths of over 20 trans children.

They know all this.

They are happy with how things are going.

Even worse for documentation. I don't want to watch some stammering illiterate spend half an hour describing what buttons you might or might not want to press for various outcomes. Just give me the FM and shut up.
No matter how interesting, I am probably never going to listen to a podcast, even about a thing I love. I will read a transcription of an interview, but I just don't have it in me to do the podcast thing. Same for "video essay" shit on YouTube. Just can't process it.

This is like the car companies in the 60s saying that seatbelt legislation would make cars unaffordable. It's arrogant and ignorant nonsense. The solution is to make corporate ownership of residential properties illegal and force landlords to be identifiable persons.

Ratcliffe is where populism leads. To multimillionaires spouting ignorant racist horseshit that divides us but unites the far right in their cynical bid to exploit prejudice for power. Ratcliffe will just shrug from his tax haven home. He doesn’t care. Farage laps it up. Everyone else loses.

McIver: "How do you think Judgement Day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?"

American commentators, you HAVE to learn the difference between a Czech and a Chechen if you are going to be paid money to announce international sporting events. Correct nationality name is far, far below the mandatory threshold.

Why did the American audience apparently hear different audio of JD Vance's appearance at the Olympics than the audio heard by the rest of the world?

NBC denies muting. But it's part of overall disturbing developments in the US corporate media world.
The world heard JD Vance being booed at the Olympics. Except for viewers in the US | Bryan Armen Graham
The real risk for American broadcasters is not that dissent will be visible. It is that audiences will start assuming anything they do not show is being hidden
