There's no arms race trough for Irish politicians in a neutral Ireland
If I had a euro for every time the Irish Neutrality debate has been brought up and lost, by the same small cohort of privileged people, who will never have to serve, or who's children will never have to be cannon fodder, I'd have enough money to pay our defence forces a living wage.

Trial by jury is our final protection against vexatious and politically-motivated prosecutions. It has never been more important than it is now and needs to be protected.

At this point it's worth remembering that all the things that distinguish you from a serf were hard won by the resistance of previous generations.
It's also worth pondering on the sort of world they're trying to create with authoritarian measures like these

Of course another consequence of removing juries from all but the most serious crimes is that those pesky juries won’t be able to find annoying protestors not guilty.

There's a batch of accidentally mild chilli con carne in the freezer, so I added a pile of chili powder.
Turns out that there was still at least one hot chili con carne left, and I spiced it up
