I just recently read Virginia Guiffre’s book, Nobody’s Girl. While Epstein and Maxwell perhaps ran the largest sex trafficking criminal network, her book reminded me of so many people throughout my life who have been trafficked by family, friends, or what we would identify as traffickers today.

On our daily walkabout, the granddog and I saw a cardinal in a tree and the resident egret and heron hanging together in the pond with some sort of ducks. Even on a rainy day, it’s kind of magical in this tiny corner of our hood.

A few quarters ago I had a student who went on an anti-trans homophobic screed for two weeks, citing the bible as his “scholarly” source in the discussion board posts. I had to jump in immediately to ask him to consider how the violence of his words impacted his classmates.

This is how I find out Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson are dating?!?!?!

I don’t keep up with celebrity but there are a few I love hearing about. And these are two of them. As a fellow Coug, I love seeing all the good things Klay is up to. As a fan, I love seeing Megan happy and thriving. 💕

I still use clip art and I’ve found Unsplash that has real photos, many for free, and it’s easy to give proper attribution. Or I use my own photos, of which I have many to draw from for my work. Anyways. AI is trash for so many reasons and I try hard to avoid it. But even I get duped sometimes.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

We don’t talk enough about women who loathed pregnancy. It’s me. I loathed it. I’d love to talk about it. As thankful as I am for my kids, being pregnant with each of them blew so much ass, I’m surprised I did it twice.
Women who say they miss being pregnant are attention seekers I’m convinced lmao cause wdym?!? You liked this??? 🤣

If I’m cooking today it is only because it is a national holiday and my kid has the off work. So, we will pause and enjoy a family meal. We don’t celebrate Indigenous genocide day, as I’ve come to call it.

If you do celebrate the day, I hope you do so in honesty about the true history of the day.

I mean, I think this could be an effective strategy for those targeted - bring suit against the people/companies making these referrals, sue the prosecutors being trumped up charges (if one can even sue ADAs). The peons may realize their allegiance doesn’t shield them from actual law. But idk. 🤷🏽‍♀️

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend Anna Gifty’s book - The Double Tax. It helps explain what’s happening right now in a depth that other similar books haven’t traveled down.
Digging into the data of what's taking place with Black women unemployment and this graph is pretty damning.

You can see the EXACT month Black women's unemployment begins to splinter and that what hit us FIRST is now coming for all other women. This is #TheDoubleTax.

This is ominous. And like many have pointed out, creating lists of Jews has never worked out well for Jewish people. Lists of any humans have never ended well.

I feel there’s more to this - training AI, refining the massive amounts of data currently being consolidated by this racist regime?

Idk about you but I just heard a bunch Mich of white people let out a sigh of relief and exclaim, “yay, now people will think my ‘jokes’ are funny again.”

It’s almost like allowing cops to trump up charges like resisting arrest, assaulting a LEO when you call them a name or let a curse word slip, or impeding lawful orders when merely asking what the charge is or why you’re pulled over was a precursor to worse behavior. Who coulda guessed? 🤷🏽‍♀️
In recent months, the Justice Department has filed charges under 18 USC 111 against more than a hundred immigrants, anti-ICE protestors, and random passers-by—accusing them of "assaulting, resisting, or impeding" federal officers
The Administration’s Favorite Statute
Federal prosecutors have charged more than 100 people with Section 111 violations. Was their crime anything more than opposing Trump’s immigration policies?

I’ve been military adjacent most of my life and have family and friends in all branches. Known a few of the elites (SEALS, Rangers, snipers). This thread is spot on. And I’d say it’s true of civilians as well. People who gotta brag about how badass they are, aren’t ever as badass as they think.
You ever walk into a military bar and see that one dude who absolutely nobody fucks with and everyone is a little afraid of? And everyone's got their hats and their jackets with patches proclaiming all sorts of impressive sounding op names, and he's just ... there. No patches, no nothing.
The defense secretary’s theatrics over military operation names sparked laughter heard round the world.

Why do people want to believe in the man in the sky myth so bad? And seriously, anyone falling for this nonsense gets what they deserve. These are literally THE stupidest of times.

I think at some point we have to have an adult convo about the toxicity of religion to the body politic, specifically Christianity in all its forms. But we aren’t ready for that convo yet because too many people are way down in that rabbit hole of brain rot.

Stand with workers. You can forgo your overpriced cup of shit coffee for a while, probably forever. There are better local coffee shops to frequent or learn to make your own favorite caffeinated beverage at home.

As a PNW kid, I’m a seafood purist. I’ll eat no farm raised salmon. Ever. Eeeeew.

And none of that breaded shit either except for a good cod filet for fish n chips on occasion. But no breaded shrimp or prawns or anything else. If it don’t taste like the ocean, I don’t want it.

Traditionally, the vast majority of fish that people consume has come from the ocean. But in 2022, humanity hit a significant milestone: Seafood companies began to raise more fish on farms than they caught from the sea.

Yep. It’s always that. Always.
The answer is whiteness and white supremacy. If you are asking why people are okay with ish here, that is the answer. If you are asking why they can still support some of these people, that is still the answer.

And think GenX might be the last generation to have had gun safety in schools. I vaguely remember this. Perhaps it was rural schools. I don’t fully know.

It’s critically important that if you’re going to have guns in the home with kids, they learn gun safety. However, this ain’t that. It’s dumb.
Placing the burden on kids to keep themselves safe in the presence of guns is misguided and ineffective. The onus is on adults to ensure kids don’t gain access to guns in the first place. That starts with securing guns in homes and vehicles—stored unloaded, locked and separate from ammunition.
Some states now require public schools to teach kids about gun safety
Along with stop, drop and roll, some states are teaching students to 'Stop and don't touch that gun.'

We are definitely reaching a point of no return here. Just saw a news article yesterday reporting the first ever sighting of mosquitos in Iceland. That feels foreshadowing of climate collapse. So many things do, but that is alarming.

Whatever the world does, has to be done w/o the U.S.

Idk if I’m an N=1 on this but I’ve never worn headphones while out and about. Maybe it’s a GenX thing. Maybe it’s a trauma thing. Maybe both. The only time I have headphones on is when I’m in secure places - airports, airport shuttles, airplanes.

I need to hear footsteps behind me & other things.
I rarely listen to music with both headphones in anymore because I'm terrified of what signals I'll miss if I do. Can't tell you how many times I've ran out of my home because car horns or kids screaming or squeaks or screeches cross some occult intensity and creates new, dire, meanings.

All of this could have been avoided. But people couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the Black lady. I asked several who they were willing to sacrifice.

Anyways, here we are and folx need to learn how to survive these dark times.

Probably coulda studied Black history to start with.

This is good thinking and writing. However, it misses the obvious critique - medical racism, misogynoir, anti-Blackness.

It misses the hundreds of years of medical experimentation done on Black women. This specific case was part of this long tradition.

🧵
It’s also worth noting that Adriana was a nurse who sought medical care for severe headaches during pregnancy.

She knew something was wrong.

She was dismissed & sent home and died the next day.

Medical misogyny killed her, and then the abortion ban caused her to be turned into an incubator
Adriana Smith, Misogyny and the Cruelty of Forced Birth
Adriana Smith couldn't access competent medical care when she needed it, and it killed her. Now the hospital is forcing 'care' on her by keeping her alive as an incubator due to Georgia's abortion ban
