🔴URGENT CALL OUT 🔴 ▶️ Tomorrow 8am❗ OPPOSE THE EVICTION OF A TRAVELLER COMMUNITY IN EDINBURGH A traveller community is at imminent risk of eviction by the police this Friday (13th Feb), 9am. We are organising a mass mobilisation to support the community and oppose this. The community have been asking for the Scottish government to find them another location and instead the police are now evicting both families, including two pregnant women with nowhere to go. The plan is to show up at 8am and protest at the entrance to the site. ▶️ SCALP backoffice will be open and LOs will be present ▶️ More info: the site is situated in Granton behind the Lidl, it is technically not an authorised site, but two families have lived there for the past 7-8 years. One woman living there is due to give birth in two weeks. They have been threatened with eviction since the summer, and police gave a final notice on Tuesday 10th. ▶️ We will be gathering by United Wire as marked on the map. You can put Madelvic House on Granton Park Avenue into maps to find location. For busses you can get the 16 to the stop Granton Park Avenue, or the 8 to the stop Royston Mains Road ▶️ Police dogs are likely to be present so take this into account if you are afraid of dogs! Solidarity with our neighbours! Against state repression of traveller communities! ✊
