Thanks. Watership Down is my favorite novel. I try to reference it wherever and whenever possible.

"Needy's body was never found. It could be that she still lives her fierce life somewhere else, but from that day on, producers would tell their indie bands that if they did not do as they were told, Needy would get them."

Chicagoans stuck in construction traffic on a Thursday: "LOL Pritzker sucks."

Chicagoans when ICE and the Texas National Guard show up: "God’s will, my liege, would you and I alone,
without more help, could fight this royal battle!"

Our climate waggles between Siberia and Fury Road. Our politicians are serving in either the statehouse or the Menard Correctional Center. Our fourth graders know Connery's Chicago Way speech by heart. The beef sandwiches drip blood. Our city libation is Malort. Malort!

ICE getting tailed like it’s a heist movie. Chicago is turning the tables.

DHS Fascism Barbie Tricia McLaughlin in response to a video of Pritzker literally walking the streets of Chicago: "Get out of your mansion. Go walk around Chicago. Go see the rampant crime."

You'd think the POTUS presenting an alternative reality about cities that he's making unprecedented, country-rending decisions about would be national news.

The Dude has spoken:

"ICE? Let's get ICE off our streets and into our beverages. This aggression will not stand. Let's just abide together"

this feels like the corollary to we need Mamdani in NYC and an oyster fisherman in Maine and a midwestern dad in Minnesota.

we're supposed to be the party that embraces the fact that we're a diverse and chaotic nation, stop test-polling yourself to generic national oatmeal!!!

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

Richard Jenkins is one of my autowatch actors. I see him in something, I'm giving it a try.

That is one deep 1940s-gossip cut. I'm impressed!

The White House Antifa Roundtable is one of the best displays I’ve seen of this-is-how-bad-it’s-gotten — just a sewer of open fascism, dementia, morons and freaks, and incoherent rage.

If only we lived in the Before Times when a president saying something this insane would be a national crisis and the press would all rush to the vice president and ask about the 25th Amendment. But Trump lives and spews Imaginationland 24/7 so alas.

Trump on Portland: "It's like the movies you see for the kids, I guess not only the kids, adults also, where you have these bombed out cities and these bombed out people. It's like, worse than that."

This is, and ought to be, sobering.

I had not thought about it in quite this way.

Never before in American history has one state's military force been deployed in another state over its objection.

I say never because the Civil War involved states whose governments legally ceased to exist, their offices vacated by constructive resignation, with no legitimate governors to object.

For the record, I do think weird outfits, glitter, and dancing are effective protest tactics. The optics are great. It makes Trump's BURNING CITIES!!! casus belli ridiculous.

If only we still had Rip Taylor. He could single-handedly save the Republic.
